I am reading these messages on John Calvert and Esther Jones with interest because my g.g. grandfather was James Calvert, b. 1806 in Virginia. I don't know where. His wife was Eleanor McPhadon or McThaden, b.VA around 1801 but her parents were Patrick b. Ireland, and Olive, b. PA. James had 4 sons and a daughter. They were John, (my g. grandfather), b. 1828, Sylvanus, b. 1833, James W., b. 1835, Elizabeth, b. 1839, and Franklin M., b. 1845. All were born in Belmont County. Then, the family moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan where they lived and are buried there. So far, I have not been able to locate my family's whereabouts in Virginia because of the similarity of the names.
