Gail, John Calvert Sr. and Esther Calvert are my GGG grandparents. There are a number of us trying to research John Calvert Sr and find out whom his parents are. Some research have shown John Calvert Sr has some brothers and sisters. John Calvert Jr, Job Calvert, Sallie Calvert, Jacob Calvert. So far we have not found that we are connected to the Lord Baltimore Calverts. There are other Calverts out there that have information on the Leonard Calvert line. I'm at the same spot with my Calverts. I'm fairly certain they are not directly connected to the Lord Baltimore Calvert line, only that they originated in County Down, Northern Ireland. They immigrated to S.W. Ontario in the Mid-1870's, but had one brother who went (at some point) to the Chicago area. Short of actually either going to N.Ireland myself, I'm at the point now where I have to get my act together and contact the Calverts who I know still live in N.Ireland. Maybe then I'll perhaps realize a dream....and go there myself. I as well have a John Calvert (my GGGreat Grandfather, born 1852, Co. Down), a David (his brother, b. 1848) and that's it. Other then John's wife, Mary Jane Nesbitt (also Co. Down b. 1853) I have little to go on myself. No family records or story speak of John and David's parents - other then that David is "David William" and his 1st son was John Henry. So I can't even really surmise what the name of his father would be. My gggreat Grandfather John's 1st son was David William, probably named after the brother. There is a William who was a widower living with my Gggreat Uncle David in the 1881 ontario census. So who knows....must be a William who was there father. Of course there are a couple thousand William Calverts I've come across ;-(...all from Co. Down at or about his same age, same with the name's John and David.
