Norma, Is it possible that they went to Belmont Co and then to KY before elsewhere? How firm are you documentation wise on James wife, for example. Might he have married twice? are you seeing James with??? in a 1860 or 70 census or something? dai "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much." So, now I am wondering if they were all living with another family and if so, since it was before 1850, they won't be individually listed on the census so that is what I am going to start searching for now. David, I got the information on James Calvert's wife from her death certificate. She was his wife in 1860 and 1870. I have not found them on any 1850 census yet. So, I figured they might have been on their way to Michigan. James died in 1861. I have a copy of his will. They were in Michigan in 1860. Three of James' sons were in the Civil War, namely John, James W. and Franklin M. John and James were in battle, Franklin deserted. I do not know anything about Sylvanus as he died 1862 at the age of 29. I suspect he may have fought but from another state. I have never found any record of it. I have copies of John and James and Franklin's Civil War papers which state they were born in Belmont County, Ohio.
