    1. Re: [CALVERT-L] William Calvert 1950
    2. Debi writes: Hi Does anyone have any information on William, father of Mary Polly Calvert, I know he was in Norfolk, VA, and also Blound, AL. Also his brothers Thomas, Joseph and Jonathan. Please if you have any information on this family would really appreciate it. Thanks Debi Debi: Sounds like the family of Cornelius Calvert of Norfolk, Va. There was a brother, William Calvert, b. June 10, 1734; m. Ann (Hunter) Barlow, widow. No Issue. This is a well known family. The genealogy given in Descendants of Virginia Calverts appears to be from reliable sources. There is no further write-up in later generations on William Calvert (or his sister Elizabeth Calvert, who married Alexander Love). Continuing family lines are presented for all the other brothers of William who had heirs. These other brothers remained in Virginia, except for the eldest son, Jonathan who drown at sea in 1744. If "proof" exists that William Calvert of Blount Co., Al. had brothers named Thomas, Joseph and Jonathan; and if "proof' exist that this Willaim was actually from Norfolk, Va.; then there would be a family connection. >From what I see, it looks like William of Blount Co. had a daughter named Mary and William of Norfolk had a mother named Mary, and somebody is attempting to connect the families. This of course would not establish a family relationship. George Calvert [email protected]
