Hi all, Lets keep this discussion on the Belmont Calverts going, I see some clues that may help unlock some mysteries that we have struggled with for years. The part about a Calvert marrying a Jane Mercer is really interesting as a marriage record can be found in PA. for Benjamin Taylor and Jane Mercer. No record has been found naming Benjamin Taylor and Jane Calvert, though we know through legal documents that Benjamin Taylor was listed with John Calverts heirs, on at least one document. John and Jacob Calvert owned most of section 31 or 32 in Mead Twp. and the parents of Benjamin Taylor owned land between the two. Jacob owned quite a bit of land, and is recorded as the founder of Jacobsburg, Belmont Co. Ohio in several different books concerning Belmont Co. history. The Mercer family of John Mercer, I believe lived in York Twp. which is just below Mead on the border of Monroe Co. Sue, do you have any background on how Hannah came to be known as Hanna Mercer Calvert. The Mercer name may be one of the pieces of this puzzle that has been missing.
