Poe, 97, Is Held On Monday Morning Surname: POE, WYATT, ROGERS, MCNEELY, CALVERT, JEPSON, YOUNG, MONROE, PURDY, INGLIS ------------------------- The funeral for Mrs. Ollie E. Poe, 97, of Dawson Springs was held Monday morning, Dec. 21, at Beshear Funeral Home. The Rev. Eugene Wyatt officiated, assisted by the Rev. Randal Rogers. Burial was in Rosedale Cemetery. Mrs. Poe died Friday, Dec. 18, at 9:10 a.m. at NHC HealthCare, Dawson Springs. She was born Sept. 20, 1901, in Hopkins County, daughter of the late Finas A. and Rosa Lee McNeely Calvert. Mrs. Poe, a member of Adriel Baptist Church, was a housewife and mother who taught school for two years. She was also preceded in death by her husband David M. Poe, who died April 27, 1983; a son, Edward D. Poe, who died Aug. 11, 1975; a sister, Flossie Jepson; a brother, Walton Calvert; and a great-great-grandson, Brice Young. Surviving are two sons, Sidney R. Poe and Ruby W. Poe, both Dawson Springs; three daughters, Dola R. Monroe, Dawson Springs, Ruth Purdy, Madisonville, and Gleora Inglis, Eddyville; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
