That is just one of many possible ancestors of my Calvert line. I was all over WV and Greene Co and due to the assist from other researchers (Calvert, Criss, Fairfax, Cooksey and so on) I have made a tremendous stride by finding primary documents for my ancestor Thomas C Calvert Sr C= Clair or Clare though I believe the latter. Thomas d in 1868 after filing a will in 1866. It details second wife, issue and from cemetery records, family data etc we now have firmly fixed this Thomas, greene Co, Hoy and Rudolph run, with many other calverts in the same area Ezekiel, John, and so on. Thomas C Calvert Sr father was Isaac who married Fanny Bullitt. Old Blacksville Cemetery has a recut stone with the chiseled name Faney Bulet used as a footstone for a grandau. FB Calvert who was Fanny Bullett Calvert. Name spelling in this era was tenuous at best. Even Thomas C Calvert Jr was noted in the census data as Colbert or Colvert. Spelling, literacy, use of the language not being standardize, phonetic pronunciation and other reasons. Colbert was Calvert in a lot of cases or I would say probably all that came from england or ireland and are found in records one way or another into the 1800s. My guess is you are looking at John Colbert of the PA Wash. Census of 1790, correct? I am now looking at him as well.
