Thomas Calvert - I found a document that Thomas C. Calvert signed the death certificate for Elizabeth Monroe and is listed as the reporting party. This document was found in the courthouse at Wetzel WV County(formerly Ohio Co and Tyler Co VA. Elizabeth Monroe was the Daughter of James Monroe and Caroline Templeton(he was President Monoroe and this is entered on the death certificate which states that she was 79 yrs, 5 months and 22 days with a birth date of apriil 9, 1864 and was b in VA(now WVA). The date of death was October 1, 1843 in Wetzel Co WV. son Thomas Clare Calvert. purchased land from an Edmund Postelwhait in Tyler Co VA on the waters of Lynn Camp Fork of Fish creek 60.00 for 100 acres of Land. He Married Elizabeth Johnson> I have not found a marriage license or BC for either of TC or Eliz. Their son Albert Gallatin was Born in Monongalia VA. He married Mary A. Polly Cain. I took a photo of a artists drawing of Mary seated in a rocking chair with Albert standing beside and a bit behind her. This was at the Calvert Farmstead above Lynn Camp Run on Harlan Ridge. I have a photo of the Homestead(1969 visit) and Cellar house(2003 visit) and did a survey of the Calvert Cemetery on the Calvert Homestead: The following are buried in the cemetery: John Ewing(marker that says father). Clarence, killed by a board with a nail in it in a fight at the bar at West Post(I believe--No marker. Ida Calvert Grim, "Mary A." Polly Calvert and Albert Gallatin Calvert. Hampton Lee Calvert, and Oliver Calvert and Thomas Calvert brother of HL Calvert and Myrta Calvert. AG and Polly's tombstone is down and was too heavy for 3 men to lift and replace on the base. We cleared this cemetery with weed eaters. This will be an update to the existing US GENWEB cemetery listing for Wetzel CO. I surveyed on Harlan ridge the Lemasters Cemetery which had been previously surveyed but will be updated with additional names. I stood up many markers and tombstones which were down and did a photo survey of all readable stones. We cleared this cemetery with weed eaters. Also on Harlan ridge is another Lemasters Cemetery with two people buried there, husband and wife. I found no other markers. A third lemasters Cemetery was found on McBride Ridge. I surveyed the cemetery and took inventory of readable stones and a photo survey also. There were many markers. Also on this ridge is a Postlewait cemetery with a single tombstone(Virginia Postlewait) essentially opposite and down hill from the McBride Ridge Lemasters Cemetery. Neither of These Cemeteries had been surveyed before. Last but not least, I hiked onto a ridge to a hill top calvert cemetery which was on the farm of a Yocum at the time an now part owned by a McBride and a Yoho. I surveyed this cemetery and took photos. It was in a bramble patch above highway 89 and is accessible by foot or 4 wheeler only. I will publish all of these and make available the photos. Oliver was murdered(Drowned)on as murdered on a creek (Little Hawking River) near Beltrie OH from Tuppers Plain Funeral Home in Monroe County OH. David Webster Calvert and Vance Ranlett Calvert retrieved the body from a Thomas Sr, or Thomas C. is documented in Hardesty's History of WV Counties under Albert as is Thomas Clare. Thomas C. recieved a land grant apparently due to service under WH Harrison for the W of 1812. I don't have the copy of the document handy but it was 450 acres and obtained about 1825 if I recall the date correctly. This clearly documents a a trend to VA calverts but still not proven. Also in doubt is a Thomas Calvert who M Anna Ewing. I don't have any idea if this was Thomas C.'s first marriage or a completely different Thomas C. Calvert. Thomas C. was in Greene Co and owned a grist Mill. This area at the time was part of VA and not PA. Also my Family came from the Dunkard Creek area of Monongalia CO VA and I will write another post on this. The Grist mill was essentially in the part of Mon CO on Dunkard Creek, the part that formed the southern in of Greene Co, taken from Mon County. If anyone has questions, here are the other cemeteries I took Tombstone Photos in: Mt. Joy, Macedonia, Harlan Family Cemetery, Joliffe #1, Higgins Family Cemetery and Fairchild Cemetery above Wileyville on Fairview Ridge Road. There is one more Calvert Family Cemetery I did not have time to get to do. It is located off of Fairview Ridge Road as well.
