Surnames: Calvert Ewing Clare Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WQH.2ACEB/1006.1 Message Board Post: 3 Different views on the ancestry of My Thomas C Calvert b 1767 to 1784 (varying). Isaac Descendency ---------------------------- Isaac Calvert acquired a homestead on the left branch of a creek which flows into Dunkard Creek about 1/2 mile below Blacksville. Known Children of Isaac are Thomas Ezekiel Isaac Jr. Thomas was Eldest b 8 11 1767 and died 5 11 1868. It is he who started two businesses on Rudolf Run where he later would build two mills, one on Hoy Creek and one on Rudolph creek, both tributaries of Dunkard Creek. His land was at the conjunction of the two creeks where they ran into Dunkard Creek... This is near the current village of Brock. He is the grandfather of Albert Gallatin Calvert, was commissioned by William Henry Harrison for the W of 1812(fort Meigs and Tippecanoe) as documented on page 203 of Hardesty's History of WV Counties-Wetzel. He received a land grant in then VA Tyler Co later to become WV Wetzel in 1846. This grant is documented in Wetzel Co. His son Thomas Clare Calvert and grandson purchased land in the same area as the Land Grant that Thomas Received on Lynn Camp Run (the purchases were made above lynn camp run the left hand fork of Fish Creek). Thomas was B 1767 came to the dunkard creek area in 1808 and built a sawmill on Hoy Creek branch of Dunkard Creek. Later he built a grist mill which was one of 51 Grist Mills of Greene Co at the time of the 1820 census. He helped repair along with John Carter, the mill of Col John Minor at Mapletown in 1811 and he built his own grist mill as noted above in 1813. There is historic information that the mill works were hauled over the mountains from Maryland. Thomas Married Anne "Anna" Ewing b 5 11 1773 died 6 30 1842. and they had 9 children. Conklin ----------- Account 2 via the Conklin family research, part of it interspersed with my notes above shows the following: >From the notes of John Conklin he indicated he was born oct 23, 1889 the son of Josiah Conklin and wife Malissa Dulaney, grandson of John Delaney and Matilda Calvert who was b Mar 9 1889. He was the great great grandson of WM Calvert b 1753 who married a wheton in 1777. Son of Reason Calvert b 1722 who married harriet Bryan. His 4th granfather was John Calvert b 1786 who married Margaret Robinson and his 5th great grandfather was george Calvert b 1661. This is the same line I had originally pursued but documented via the Conklin family.
