    2. Hi. According to O'Gorman's book 'Descendents of the Virginia Calverts', I am descended from your family. I have doubts that she is right, but she lists my gg-grandfather, Nathan Calvert as being one of your Robert Calvert's descendents. Some of the Kentucky Calverts moved to Clark County MO, as did Nathan. However Nathan was in Ohio (Athens County) with many other Calverts that O'Gorman lists as Robert's children. My grandfather was always told that the other Calverts in Clark County were his cousins, and he named my dad after one of them. Those MO Calverts were direct descendents of Leonard Calvert, governor of MD. I think it is possible that there were two Nathans, am still working to find out. But this book will definitely help you. She doesn't have all family members names, but between familysearch.com and her book, you should be able to get a wealth of info. Chapter VI, 'John of Frederick'. Apparently, John left PA and got land in Frederick County VA, then some of the family moved to OH, Let me know if any of this interests you....I have the pages copied from her book. Peggy P.S. If you know anything about Nathan, I'd love to hear it!!!

    2. These are some notes I accumulated about Spencer who m. Nancy Leatherwood. He was the grandson of my 7th ggf. Karen Carty St. Louis Revolutionary Soldiers in Kentucky, Calvert, Spencer, Sergeant and Private, Virginia Line. August 22, 1833 $41.66 pension, Age 73. "Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots" shows him buried in Calvert Cemetery, near Princeton, Caldwell County, Kentucky. Spencer enlisted in the Rev. War when he was about 18 yrs. old. He enlisted as a substitute for a married man who had only three more months to serve. Later, he enlisted again for the same purpose, for another married man. This is recounted in the O"Gorman book. He married Nancy Leatherwood, had 7 children, and they had two grandchildren named James. One James was the son of their son Elias and his wife Elzy Morse Calvert. This James was born 1821. Their other grandson James was the son of their son Spencer Mancel and his wife Mary Morse Calvert. However, according to the O'Gorman book, he died young. 3. Go to link below for email address for Hollywood Historical Society. Ask for a copy of obituary for Donald Janes Calvert d. April 30, 2002. It may list survivors and other information. They will probably request a small fee. The fee is worth it, because most societies are staffed by volunteers and perpetually suffering budget crunches. Good luck hunting. 3. I'm looking for any information on my grandfather who disappeared in 1979. He was born in Covington, KY to Loretta Arnold and Leonard Calvert in January of 1938. The SSDI has him dying in Hollywood, Broward County, Florida just 1.5 years ago (April 30, 2002). If anyone knows anything about him, his life in Florida, whether he got remarried, where he is buried or someone who may have known him, I'd appreciate that info. I realize no one here probably will, but I thought I'd ask just in case. But, on a genealogical note, on Donald James Calverts birth certificate it states that a Leonard Calvert born in Chicago Illinois was his father. Donald never met his father and we have no confirmation of his existence. If anyone has done Calvert research in the Chicago, Illinois area and knows anything that may be of help to me, please let me know. Thank You. LeeAnn - Cincinnati

    3. Hello! I am trying to research my grandfather (Donald James Calvert) and his mother Loretta Arnold. My grandfather "ran away" (if you will) in 1979 (when I was only two) and was never seen again. We now know he died in Hollywood, FL just 1.5 years ago. But, we want to know who is father was and more about his mother's side (the Arnolds). He never had a father and was raised by his mother and her siblings. The siblings names were Carrie, Elmer, and Bernie (Bernard?). They were all born in Covington, KY to our knowledge in a house on John Street. Their parents died when they were young, and Loretta being the oldest, raised all of her siblings. Loretta, Carrie, Elmer and Bernie all stayed in that house their WHOLE LIVES. They never left. Carrie may have gotten married at some point, but Loretta was the only one to have a child. On the birth certificate of my grandfather it says Leonard Calvert was the father of the child. We are unaware if that is a fake name or a real person. On the internet I can find no record of any of the Arnolds I've mentioned above (Loretta, Carrie, Bernie and Elmer), they don't even come up in the SSDI! Indeed, they may never have recieved Social Security numbers. I am hoping (though I know there is a slim chance) that someone here has also done Arnold genealogy for Kentucky, and that their names may pop up somewhere on your radar, I would love it if you got back to me. Thanks for your time and consideration. LeeAnn

    2. Frank, I just finished my work year for the Franklin County School System. We had two weeks added on to the year because of the ice storm we had in February. My oldest son just graduated from High School Sunday. I am going to talk to a fourth cousin in Scott County this week and ask her if she has heard of Julia along her lines of family. It would help if you could give me some names of the children you are talking about maybe she knows of some of their families and knows some family history. I will do what I can to help you. Would you mind filling me in on some of the specifics of what kind of time William Calvert, one of the original Calvert brothers of whom you speak, spent in N. Carolina? Were there any Calvert relations that led him to the Carolinas? Where in Tenn. did he actually settle? I am aware that his son James by 1840, owned about 35 slaves and farmed a $10,000 estate. In what ways did William manage to amass a fortune such that his progeny were left relatively well off? My family, family information concludes, that we first arrived here in Maryland. In the long run, I'm trying to track down hard eidence to buttress theis belief. I eagerly Await Your Reply. Ryan Neal
