1. RE: [CALVERT] Donate to the DNA test.

    3. On one of my other family lines they are doing a DNA for the THARP. Here is their email maybe this person working their DNA up can help the Calverts get some idea on cost. Hi everyone. I have two volunteer from two different Tharp/Thorpe lines (Zebulon Tharp of VA and Thomas Tharp of Maryland). I desperately need someone to volunteer from the Thomas Thorpe line of Woodbridge, NJ. THIS IS A FREE TEST - YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING TO PARTICIPATE. I am looking for a male volunteer in an unbroken line from Thomas Thorpe - ie - not a descendant from the female Thorpe/Tharp. This is a Y-chromosome test, so we can only test male volunteers. If you are a female descendant or descend through a female line, you may have brothers, cousins or uncles who would be willing to volunteer. Results of this test are used for genealogical purposes only! Our NJ line will be compared to the other lines tested for relatedness, possibly all the way back to the 1500's in England. I am also looking for volunteers from other Tharp/Thorpe lines who would like to test themselves for relatedness to other Tharp/Thorpe lines. The cost of a 14-generation test is only $99. I will chip in $25 for the next line to volunteer, bringing the cost down to $74, plus shipping. This is about the cost of ordering a mere 15 records or so through LDS. Please contact me at ellenlevy66@yahoo.com if you are interested in participating, or would like to get additional information. Thanks! 1. [CALVERT] Re: Relationship of Various Calvert Lines Could Be Determined by DNA Tests
    2. Dear List, Has anyone considered testing the Y Chromosomes of male representatives of well documented Calvert lines to see if they are related? If these Y Chromosome patterns were determined it would also be possible for less well documented Calverts to establish a connection to a particular line or area. There are many Surname DNA studies currently underway to answer these questions in other families. You can go to www.familytreedna.com to see how this works. I am a descendant of the Calvert/Stamper line of Ireland but lack a Y chromosome! Females, however can also benefit from DNA technology if they can find a male parent, grandparent, brother, uncle, or male cousin to test. Regards, Nicole May njmay@aol.com

    3. The thing Jim, I am trying to establish is: 1. The parents of William who married Jane. William would be born about the time of our isaac. so say 1745 give or take, like Joseph below. 2. There is a Joseph Calvert also who had a John, Joseph, a Deborah and a couple of more Children. this joseph would be born about the time of our Isaac b 174x. so say 1745 give or take. Again. I apologize. I know I wrote you about this but cannot recall the page numbers, etc and because email causes so much robustness, i do not save all sent mail. I suppose this is a reason to do so but the mangage ment of data gets to be problematic for me. If you look for Jane and William is one thing, Joseph the other. I am pretty sure though that I was trying to figure out this William and Joseph and who they belonged to. I think it may have some importance, as a family of Calverts supposedly moved back to Chester Co. from Cumberland. For a Texas connection, try looking up Jonathan Calvert & Sarah Moon. They came from AL and settled in Hill County TX however, if you go back on their family, you may find the decendant that you are looking for, since Waco is not that far from Hill Co. I have also seen other posts to do with a Mary Moon, that may have also married a Calvert...I believe she is the sister to Sarah Moon. it was often the custom (due to low supply, I guess..lol) for sisters to marry a set of brothers (their kids are called "double cousins"). Sarah Moon had 2 daughters that married two Ince brothers (my gg grandmother's nephews) and there are many of these kind of couples in my family.

Paralee and Sarah Ann are one and the same. The correct name is Sarah Ann Paralee Calvert. She and her sister, Rebecca, married James Madison and George Washington Ince, respectively. Sarah Moon, their mother was Full blooded Indian...aka "Little Moon". While I have not checked all of their kids, James Madison (as IW.."intermarried white"), Sarah Calvert and her children are listed on the Final Dawes Rolls 1898-1914. Sarah is shown as 1/4, her children as 1/8. George/Rebecca did not opt to sign onto the rolls however, any decendant of Sarah Moon's would have no problem registering with the Indian Nation if they can show birth records showing they are connected to Sarah or Rebecca Calvert, since they are daughters of Sarah Moon. While there is a requirement to be a certain amt of native american to receive land etc...there is ! NO requirement to register...ANYone who has a native american decendant can join the particular Indian Nation...and it does offer certain educational benefits, for those who have children approaching college age.
