    3. Hi Lynn: My name is Barbara Skinner Joseph and my brother, Larry, corresponded earlier with you. Keep in touch with us as we have new information coming in from another source by mail hopefully early next week. We also have lots of Yoho information and you are more than likely related to us on that line as all Yoho's in the U.S. came from one source. 3. Sept. 4, 1999 There are it seems to me more Calvert families than just the MD/VA and Quaker group. Years ago, a New England Calvert wrote me and I had nothing for her. Never had heard of those Calverts. As far as the Quaker info. goes, I checked on trying to find that particular Thomas. No go at all. There is a Thomas Calvert listed but he is 17th cent. And no more mentioned. The War of 1812 and his participation prob. means that he had abandoned his Quaker beliefs if he were of that Thomas branch. Can you check war records and info. on those who took part in it? Sorry. Barbara M. Calvert

    3. To James Calvert and other Listers. My Calvert, Cornalius, first came to the Colonies (Norfork) little before the 1700s, was merchant, and married Mary Sanders. I have copies of his "will" and am now trying to place names in order without the aid of a computer. His son, also a Cornelius, b 26 Sep 1725, was elected or appointed Mayor of Norfork twice, maybe not in a row). He died in 1804, and was one of the [Original-signers] of the: "Sons of Liberty" in 1776. My wife said that she didn't know that Gean Autry's singing group was that old, and I had to explain that they were "the Sons of the Pioneer". :) Anyway, Cornelius the Mayor, married Elizabeth Thoroghgood (aka) Throwgood) on 19 June 1749. Their dau "Mary" married William Walke, member of the Virginia Legislature. My lineage follows the Walke family from VA to OH c1811. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ M F SMITH, 6 yr Army Vet, Ret, AL, APS "Remembering Those Who Served" http://community.webtv.net/CmbtEngrVet/JUSTAVETERAN and "http://community.webtv.net/Airacorba/VETERANSOPINION"

    3. Several months back there was a notice on the Calvert Genforum (www.genforum.com) concerning four Calvert brothers who landed in Norfork, VA from England near the time of the Revolution. One went to Canada due to his lovalties and three remaind in the States. You may want to check those messages. There appear to be more Calvert famiilies than the Baltimores and the Quakers who immigrated to the States. Example: a Michael (?) Calvert who immigrated from Hanover, born in Holland, and settled in Wyoming in the 1870s (see rootsweb archive) , a Thomas Calvert who immigrated to PA from Nottingham in the 1840s and died in Jersey Shores, PA. (Calvert Genforum list), and the above cited brothers. At 08:05 PM 09/02/1999 -0400, you wrote: >Thanks to everyone who answered my e-mail of Mon. about VA/WV >Calverts. 3. Thanks to everyone who answered my e-mail of Mon. about VA/WV Calverts. Special thanks to George Calvert who looked in O'Gormans for me. Unfortunately, we are not there. Hopefully, another door will open. He suggested Quaker Calverts. Anyone out there looking into Quaker Calverts? To repeat: 1. VA Land Office and Patents and Grants lists a Thomas C. Calvert, 30 Nov. 1838, Tyler County--425a. on left fork of Lynn Camp Run--Grants 89, p. 598. Am completely stumped on Thomas Calvert #1.
