    3. Does anyone recognize the name Julia Vesta Calvert? I know she married Lou (Louis?) Adolphus Dent. They had one daughter I know of, Anna Melvina Dent born 1867 but am not sure where. I know they lived in Joplin, MO before moving to Colorado before 1910. Do these names ring a bell for anyone? Any help or hints will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!. Thank you in advance. Darla Barkley

    3. Hi My CALVERT ancestors hail from Lincolnshire, England. My G/G/G/Grandfather was John Henry CALVERT who was born in Lincoln Union Workhouse, Lincolnshire, England to Mary Ann Calvert in 1852. I have Mary Anns parents in later Census returns and they brought up John Henry CALVERT but after 1852 I can find no trace of MARY ANN CALVERT, she was born in 1830 at Owmby, Lincolnshire and I have no idea if she died or remarried, If anyone comes across a likely match in their research could they please let me know as I really would like to find out what happened to her, I suppose she may have been sent away by her parents although I don't know how far away! Thankyou for your time Sarah in Lincoln, England

    3. Heads up George. I looked at the FTM Facts pages on some of the individuals and found many Facts were transferred or scrambled in an earlier merge or when I moved from PAF to FTM several years ago. I now have rubbish in many of the places in the Facts. I am having to go back and check everything that is in my files now. Please let me know if any of the 0-7 generation FTM file was of use. If not I won't bother wading through the next generation till I have fixed all the mess. The Facts were so scrambled I don't have a lot of faith in the birth / death dates now either. If you can do a compare of the birth/death dates let me know. Sorry for the rubbish. I had no idea the data had been scrambled. Cheers Gary Lee Calvert mailto:[email protected]

There you'll see what u HAVE asked for in the report (on the RIGHT side) Just highlight the 2ND set of DATES and in the MIDDLE of the page click on the 2nd ARROW down which looks like < and it will remove it from your report. 2. Hello Calvert's, Just received word today that my gr.gr. grandfather was ISAIAH CALVERT. His daughter ISABELLA CALVERT b. approx. 1833 was my gr. grandmother. Isabella married James Metcalfe in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England on March 5, 1872. I have records that state Isabella was from Grewelthorpe. She was living in Ripon when she married James Metcalfe. Does anyone have an Isaiah Calvert in their family? Many thanks for taking the time to read this note. Sincerely, Gerie

    3. Laurie, Thanks for your responce. Resin Calvert was born in 1722 not 1772. Typo in first message. Sorry. But, I do believe there are other errors in the information I sent. I also cannot find a son of George and Rosalie Stier named John nor can I find anything on a Resin Calvert. There are two Thomas' in my line but do not know if the ones entered are the correct ones. The line that I have is: Thomas Calvert b. unknown. Soldier of 1812, held commission under Harrison and was at Fort Meigs and the battle of Tiippecanoe. Source, Hardesty's WV Counties, bio of Albert G. Calvert, page 203 Thomas C. Calvert b. unknown m. Elizabeth Johnson Albert G. Calvert b. My Grandparents This Calvert line starting with Thomas C. came out of near Boonsboro, MD into VA (WV) in the early 1800's. Thomas C. purchased land in 1838 in Tyler Co. VA(WV ) It is believed that the Albert Gallatin Calverts were named after Albert Gallatin who was a member of the PA state legislature, U.S. Senator and Secretary of the Treasury under Jefferson. He was also at the Treaty of Ghent and was responsible for the Louisiana Purchase. If you want other information on Albert Gallatin, just type his name in on your computer and lots of info will come up. He was a very important person and is someone we never hear about in our American history. Again thanks Barbara Skinner Joseph Thanks Jim and Barbara Joseph [email protected]

    3. Thanks for the help. I got through to the FTM data base and found the solution. I also found I needed to have an update installed. A fix to go to 5.0b foound at URL http://www.familytreemaker.com/support/5gedimp.html You would think after registering the program and being on the mail and email lists that they would send me needed program fix updates. Never seen any so I lost faith in what the FTM program could do for me. I have made George a generations 1 - 6 GEDCOM file for his testing and will be updating the reference numbers to the next couple of generations. I manage to clip out all the superfluous individuals with the new file I created. While the program allows the task to be done I found it available in a round about method that is used. I was using PAF and it was intuitively obvious how to do the needed task. The program should be designed with the goal to serve the user and not the user reading manuals volumes to serve the program IMHO. ;-) I used to be a software programmer. Now retired.... gee it is nice to use that word since I have been struggling for 2 years to get my SS Disability. Now just waiting on the dough. I appreciate the email and posting. It's nice to know there are folks who help each other in the group. 3. I haven't tried using the scanner and OCR program to put things into the FTM program. I have OmniPage Pro 8.0 and I wasn't impressed with the % of accuracy it produced. I plan to upgrade my FTM 5.0, OmniPage Pro 8.0 and some other programs after the first of the year (Y2K jitters) I have been 2 years trying to get my Social Security Disability and finally had a hearing this month and won. It will be a few months before I can get some dough to upgrade with, but I can spend some time each day poking some data in. I don't sit for long periods but I type several times each day... plodding along. Query! Does the FTM version you are using allow you to generate a GEDCOM file with a range from one individual down 5 or 6 generations? The version 5.0 I have dumps the whole 2000+ names into the GEDCOM file. I can't believe they did that! >From my earlier email: Well my FTM files have been created from a PAF transfer a few years ago. Before I knew enough about PAF I had merged in some files found on a CD at the Ft. Wayne (Allen County) Indiana Library. So after the two transfers of data I have some entries have reference numbers like 3, 5, 22, and some have numbers like 1RL2-QJ, 9GF9-DW most have no reference numbers at all since the default of the FTM version was to be none. I have not had much luck in merging files into my FTM program. Climbing up the learning curve. I have carried many of the names dumped into my file from the CD at Ft. Wayne and with no source references I don't think many folks would like that merged into a file with well sourced data. I have removed all the reference numbers/ letters and now have to find a way to trim the good data from the rubbish data. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, November 12, 1999 11:49 AM Subject: Re: [CALVERT-L] Calvert Repository > > Gary writes, > > >Well greetings again. > >Have you started your first 6 generations yet? > > Gary, > > THANKS, really needed some encouragement. 3. Well greetings again. Have you started your first 6 generations yet? I have removed all the reference numbers in my FTM 5.0 file and have been renumbering them to be the same as O'Gorman numbers. I have the generation 1 through 5 numbered and was wondering if you wanted a GEDCOM file of them to check while I number generation 6 and 7. I may have typed in the first 8 generations (just names birth and death dates) enough to try to get some relatives linked up in the lists when I find where they connect. I am willing to send out, or have reside where ever, the GEDCOM file for the first 8 generations if it can be checked and put somewhere. 1. [CALVERT-L] Calvert's (Re: Barbara Skinner Joseph's info)...
    2. Hi Barbara... I descended from George Calvert's b. Feb 2, 1668 (you show 1666). But, I don't descend from his Rosalie Stier. George had an affair with Eleanor Beckett, which is my line. Not sure where you got the below info, but some of it is in error. You show.... Benedict Swingate Calvert m. Elizabeth Calvert George Calvert b. 16661 Sussex, England m. Rosalie Eugenia Stier John Calvert m. Margaret Robinson in 1717 Resin Calvert b. 1772 m. Harriet Bryon Thomas C. Calvert b. 1755 m. Anne ? Thomas Clair Calvert b. 1784 m. Elizabeth Monroe ( I have Elizabeth Johnson) Albert Gallatin Calvert b. 1830 Monongalia Co.,VA (now WV) m. Mary (Polly)Cain ========== You have a John Calvert m. Margaret Robinson in 1717. But Resin Calvert wasn't born till 1772, which would make his mother (b. about 1700, let's say) 72 years old at his birth. Next, u show Thomas C. Calvert b. 1755, which is 18 years before his father Resin's birth??? I have the lines from Rosalie & George Calvert in my file & I don't show them having a son John. If' I'm in error, please let me know where this info came from & I'll be happy to correct my data. Howver, "I" have a John Calvert b. 1796, son of George Calvert (b. 1668) & Eleanor Beckett. But, I have NO other info on John. Maybe this COULD be your John ???? If so, then u'd be down the same line as mine, which is NOT Rosalie Stier, but IS Eleanor Beckett. To date, there have been NO other lines found down the Eleanor line that I know of, but I sure would LOVE to find some cousins down this line ! I do have a considerable amount of info on this line. Next, u DO have an Albert Gallatin Calvert b. in Monongalia Co., VA. I have "some info" on the Gallatin line in Uniontown, Fayette Co., PA, and my niece-by-marriage IS a Gallatin ! Haven't done much on this line at all, but maybe it's about time I start to help her with her line, which may link to yours since your Albert lived so close to Uniontown, Fayette Co., PA. 3. Nov. 11, 1999 Comment #2 All I want to know is what form we send the info. and where it is sent. If someone does the Jacob line, as I mentioned, but thru another son, I gather I would send Bill's line thru Francis and so on. Just need to know in what form and where to send. Barbara Calvert

    3. Nov. 11, 1999 To George, It all sounds so complicated and difficult. And would take hours and hours to record all those Calverts. I am willing to send in Bill's line. Does that mean the descendants of uncles and aunts, brothers and sisters? Or does it mean just naming them and following his direct line. For example, he's desc. from Jacob Calvert s/o John Calvert s/o Geo. Calvert s/o Wm. Jacob had a batch of kids and Bill is from Francis Calvert m. Eilizabeth Witt. Robert Calvert etc. His line is pretty well covered in O'Gorman. Also, there are other Calverts connected to some of my lines. Would you want anything like that? I can send information in the form of a chart for these and some others. Well, not an exact chart but following the numbering of O'Gorman cover nearly every # except for Bill and for some others who are listed in O'Gorman. Be happy to cooperate as much as I can. Do we e-mail the info. or what? Barbara Calvert

    3. Christi, There are several free web page providers out there. A copy of what I am--slowly--developing on my maternal side is enclosed. Again, these websites can be lost if something happens to the website provider or the individual maintaining the website. Your information can be trashed. A backup for the web page somewhere on rootsweb appeals to me. 1. [CALVERT-L] Seeking Proof
    2. Hello List- I am a member of the CALVERT email list searching for information on my ancestor Mary CALVERT. My research shows Mary CALVERT as being born about 1586 and married in 1605 or 1606 to Isaac CHAPLINE in Yorkshire, England at the Bolton Castle. Mary CALVERT is the sister of George CALVERT, 1st Lord Baltimore, and daughter of Leonard CALVERT and Alicia/Grace CROSLAND/CROSSLAND. When I initially joined the group I sent out a query as to any information on Mary CALVERT. I received one answer from the List Manager who politely informed me that Mary CALVERT was not listed in the O'Gorman book, but offered to help if I would provide more information. I belong to a separate group of researchers who are researching the above marriage. Through this group I have amassed a ton of information on the CALVERT and CHAPLINE families. Please excuse me as I try to "prove my ancestor." I am the least knowledgeable of the group, and do not serve worthy as their spokesman. I will attempt to state sources obtained from their generosity. Isaac CHAPLINE can be proved through the following: - Order of Descendants of Ancient Planters - List of Approved Ancient Planters - Isack CHAPLAINE - Jamestowne Society - Isaack CHAPLAINE - Qualification: Burgess, 1624-25, Location Chaplain's Choice - First English Colony at Jamestown Virginia in 1607 Census - 1624 CHAMPLAINS VA C145 CHAPLAINE, Isaac - The Library of Virginia - Virginia Colonial Records - CHAPLYN, Ensign -- 1621, SR 03112, p.1. - First American Families Society - Isaac CHAPLINE - Hotton's "Arrivals from 1600 to 1700" - Ensign Isaac CHAPLINE - "Land Book," Vol. 7, page 531, at Richmond, VA Ensign Isaac CHAPLINE - "Hening", Vol. 1, page 129 Ensign Isaac CHAPLINE - "First Republic in America" by Dr. Alexander Brown, pages 571, 579, 613, 619, and 620 Ensign Isaac CHAPLINE I have the following resources on Isaac CHAPLINE and his wife MARY CALVERT: - "American Plantations and Colonies", Virginia People, 1624/5 Muster of the Inhabitants of Virginia Settlements, January 21-23, 1624/5 Settlers living at Chaplains Choise, Charles Cittie in Virginia CHAPLAINE, Isack (Arrived on the Starr in 1610) (wife) CHAPLAINE, Mary (Arrived on the James in 1622) - "Adventures of Purse and Person", 3rd ed. 1987 and - "Hotten's List", page 173 "Ensign Isaack CHAPLINE came to Virginia, 1610, in the Star and in the census, 1623/4, he, Mrs. CHAPLINE's name is given as Mary...." - "Seldens of Virginia Vol 2", Frank Allaben Genealogical Company. New York. 1911. page 467: "Ensign Isaac CHAPLINE, of the Royal Navy, came to Virginia in the "Starr," as King's Council under Lord De La Warr, in 1610. He received large grants of land on the south side of the James River, in the Parish of Jordan's. He established his home at "Chaplain's Choice." In 1622 his wife, Mary CHAPLINE (said to have been a CALVERT, and a kinswoman of Lord Baltimore)..." - Notes I received from a CHAPLINE Family Historian (Dick Matteson) - "Mary CALVERT, sister of Lord Baltimore and wife of Ensign Isaac CHAPLINE, is very likely the last named CALVERT in the CHAPLINE history since 1650 in America. Her apparent death by 1683 marks the end of CALVERT genealogical influence on the CHAPLINES but help to Joseph CHAPLINE's sons came about 80 years later when those sons appealed to Lord Baltimore (Cecil) to re-validate the grant his father had made to their father- Joseph. Cecil CALVERT not only did that but he stated that his love for his KINSMEN dictated that he grant the warrant- "In perpetuity". This document almost proves the close relationship between Mary and Lord Baltimore and that they knew, communicated and interacted with each other well past the 1600's. That warrant is in the possession of the descendants of Joseph CHAPLINE of Washington Co, Maryland." - "Thirteenth Generation" - http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/9082/d31.htm "As an insight into early American History and how the CHAPLINES' progressed to the point of Joseph CHAPLINE founding Sharpsburg, we go back to the time when America was first settled. Isaac CHAPLINE, born in England in 1585, was the latest in a long line of aristocratic Chapline's. He entered the English Royal Navy, where, as a result of his high family position, soon became a Captain of one of her Majesty's ships. In 1606 he married Mary CALVERT, daughter of Leonard CALVERT of the founding Maryland family, that governed for 139 years from 1632 to 1771." - Ancestry.Com (genealogy website) - KindredKonnections.Com (genealogy website) - LDS (Mormon genealogy website) Isaac CHAPLINE married to Mary CALVERT (daughter of Leonard CALVERT and Grace/Alicia CROSLAND/CROSSLAND - Many more references not listed I have also received the following "Controversy" re: proving that Mary CALVERT was the wife of Isaac CHAPLINE: - "Adventures of Purse and Person" "The issue of Isaack and Mary Kaplan has not been established; indeed there is no evidence that they had issue (12)". So my question is where do I go next? Have I proved this marriage to the satisfaction of the CALVERT-List? Anxiously awaiting a response. DeeDee Baton Rouge, LA
