    3. Laura C, Hi; I also have VA Calvert's which was listed in O'Gorman, but with errors. My GG Grandfather, Real Adm Henry Walke, had published papers which show that "Cornelius Calvert" was connected to olde' Lord Baltimore, including the Arms/Crest. Cornelius's dau "Mary" married William Walke, thus Adm Henry Walke Grandparents. His papers are of "first" person knowledge. In my site below, "Just a Veteran" shows lineage up to 33 Generations and to Henry I of France. mfs ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ M F SMITH, 6 yr Army Vet, Ret, AL, APS Genealogy.......... 3. Jan. 3, 2000 Re Irish Calverts In THE CALVERTS WHO WERE QUAKERS by J. Richard Buckey, he has a great deal of Irish background. He says that John Calvert lived in Lurgam, Co. Armagh. His son, Thomas b. ca 1617 d. PA. Thomas' son, John b. 1648 near Belfast d. in PA. He had been disowned. Dau. Mary Calvert b. 1687 recorded in Quaker info. Mary's bro. John b. ca 1689 in PA d. 1739 VA. There was a Robert Calvert, Get. was the only Calvert who received manorial rights in the Ulster Plantation. He could have been Lord Baltimore's bro. dimgprr. More: John Calvert b. ca1587/9----buried Drumgorr, IRE came to NO IRE 1617 having m. in Yorkshire, Eng. Buried in Friends Burial Ground, Moyraverty. THomas Calvert m. Jane Glassford. He was b. 1617, Ire. d. 1685, PA. John Calvert s/o Thomas b. near Belfast m. Judith Stamper. The will of Thomas Calvert 1617-1685 of Chester Co., PA. John Calvert & wife were not Quakers. More info. about all the families in the book. BUT It is believed that John etc. were all related in some way to Lord Baltimore. It could have been that John Calvert b. ca1587/9 was prob. another son of Leonard Calvert, father of Lord Baltimore. In his will, Geo. Calvert, 1st Lord Baltimore, mentions kindred in the "North". There could be a cousin relationship. Hope this is somewhat helpful. Barbara Calvert

    1. Re: [CALVERT-L] Calvert
    2. Sorry Kristine, I have not got very far back with my line of CALVERTs yet, and no sign of a connection with Yorkshire yet. My Grandfather was Patrick CALVERT b 1890 in Camus Strabane Northern Ireland. His father was Hugh CALVERT b 1854 in Camus Strabane, and his Father was Hiram CALVERT who was known to have been in Strabane in 1845. My Great Aunt Vera, who lived in Los Angeles, told me that her Grandfather Hiram had been buried in Pensyllvannia. My Great Uncle Joseph, used to play football (soccer) in Strabane, and on one occasion he was playing and was told that he had a relative of his playing on the opposing team. This man claimed to be Lord CALVERT. He said that there definitely was a connection as ALL the Irish CALVERTS are from the same family. The Baltimore CALVERTs (who founded Maryland had connections with Ireland. Thus if what this person said is true, then we are related somehow, but there is no evidence yet. Have you visited the Genforum? http://genforum.genealogy.com/calvert/ Best of luck in your search, Jim.

After 5 years of POTS/modem service (Plain Ole Telephone Service) we have finally gone digital with a cable modem service. The old account will be active for about another month, but then only the new address will work. The old address was: [email protected] and the new one will be [email protected] so if you have added me to your contact books as the listowner, please change your addresses :) Also note the new homepage address we have for our personal research, etc. located in my signature line. 3. Hi Folks, While I don't normally send out virus warnings and DO thoroughly check them out before saying anything, this one almost got me this weekend and has been received 10 times again since. Before I continue, let me tell you two things to reassure you. #1: Rootsweb lists are incapable of sending or receiving attachments and/or HTML mail, so you will not get this worm from a Rootsweb list. #2: Please note that as far as we currently know this worm only affects those using Outlook Express and Netscape Mail as their email programs, but it is a clever worm that is constantly morphing so please be aware. Now, several of you may have received mail that LOOKS like it is from a Rootsweb list that is carrying the virus, but the important thing here is that this worm is capable of "forging" it's to AND from lines so that while it is not actually coming from a Rootsweb list, it looks like it is. Rootsweb has posted information on this particular worm here: http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/virus1.html that explains the "forging" and Symantec (the makers of Norton Antivirus) has information about the worm and how to remove it as well at http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/worm.newapt.html Basically the best rule of thumb is NEVER open an attachment you know nothing about and if in doubt, email the "sender" to make sure that they are actually trying to send you something. ALWAYS update your virus software (i.e.. once a week is best) and ALWAYS scan any files before opening. Below is the post that was sent on to us on the listowners list by MessageMates.com. Thanks Carole for the info! 3. (This message is automatically sent to the list once per month!) Hello all! [If you are receiving this post, it means that you have somehow gotten yourself subscribed to a genealogy mailing list at Rootsweb.com. If you are having trouble unsubscribing from the list and wish to, please reply to me at [email protected] , quoting this email, including all headers, and let me know that you want to be removed from the list.] Happy Holidays! First, I want to thank each and every one of you for subscribing to this Rootsweb genealogy list. It is time now for a brief word from our sponsor :) List guidelines: All Rootsweb lists cannot accept HTML or Rich Text (RTF) formatted email or attachments, please make sure all email is in plain text format before sending to the list. Please feel free to visit the surname resource pages at Rootsweb as well as our personal mailing list pages by going to http://www.rootsweb.com and clicking on Surname Resources for the Rootsweb page and to the Mailing list jump page at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cbrogan and selecting the list name for our personal mailing list pages. If you wish to respond to the entire list, you will need to replace the personal name in the to field with the list address, otherwise your response will only go to the person who sent the original message. If you have a problem with another list member, please do not post to the list but rather send email to the listowner and we will handle it off list. DO NOT forward Chain letters, off-topic posts, or virus alerts to the list. There are two sites listed below that deal with these hoaxes. Please check one of them and then email the listowner if you are still concerned. If there is cause for real alarm, he/she will address the list. http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/hoax.html http://www.cheyenne.com/virusinfo/ DO NOT forward other people's mail, email or copyrighted information to the list at any time without specific permission of the author (and clearance from the listowner) This prevents "information stealing" and hurt feelings on the list. DO NOT attempt to sell, advertise or distribute products to the list members without prior authorization from the listowner. Doing so is cause for immediate removal from the list. If you have a genealogy book you have written that you wish to let people know about, please alert the listowner for further instructions. If you would like to read through the archives of this or any other list, please visit: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl OK... that's enough of the tough stuff. If anyone has issues with the above rules, please feel free to contact me via email and we can discuss it. If there are large "uprisings" about some of the rules, we will vote on action on the list, but it must first be discussed with the listowner off-list. While we're on the subject of sponsors though, if any of you would like to join in the support of our great host, Rootsweb, please become a sponsor or member by visiting: http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/members/ Again, thanks to all for making these lists what they are today! Now, back to GENEALOGY!!! Christi Calvert Brogan Proud Rootsweb Donor Visit our list pages at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cbrogan Visit our personal homepage at http://users.idworld.net/brogan

My g.g. grandfather was James Calvert who was born in VA around 1806. His son, (my g. grandfather) was John, born 1828 and brothers Sylvanus b. ca. 1833, James W. b. 1835 and Franklin b. 1845, all in Belmont County. If I could only find more, maybe we are related. Please pass along any help you get if it sounds like it might be my kin. Thanks. Norma Harkness
