    3. It has been a while since I have requested information on this CALVERT line. so I am sending it again hoping that someone has subscribed to this listserve group that might have further information. I am a descendant of Benjamin Rotan CALVERT, son of JESSE CALVERT. From my research, Jesse married Pamalia SMITH on 13 February 1834 in Campbell County, KY. I do not know if this Jesse had any other children or not. I tend to believe that Benjamin was the only child and that Pamalia died in childbirth; but I have no proof. I believe that this Jesse Calvert was a son of Jesse CALVERT (# 365) and Charlotte SANDERS in the O'Gorman book; however, I have no proof. If anyone knows any information on these CALVERT families, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Thank you. Dennis

    3. Karen, We have found Cynthia Calvert listed as the mother of this Alexander Calvert in two sources, O'Gorman and "Maryland Genealogies". We have been researching a William Calvert who was in Bedford County, VA at the same time. William married a Elizabeth (Betsy) Helm there in 1808. We think he and Alexander were possibly brothers, but have no proof, even though we are near Bedford County and personally researched the records there many years ago (before acquiring the books). No father is listed for Alexander in either publication, but Cynthia was the daughter of George Calvert. >From "Maryland Genealogies" the following information is quoted from Order 'Book 2, page 397, Sept. 24, 1804. Cynthia Calvert of the County of Bedford and State of Virginia to her son, Alexander Calvert of Bedford County, power of attorney " to call upon John Calvert of Prince William County, the administrator of my father, George Calvert, deceased, for a just and full settlement." ' According to " O'Gorman" another George Calvert is her grandfather. Bernard Calvert Danville, Virginia Am searching for the parents of either Alexander Calvert or Nancy Mayhew who were married in Bedford County, Virginia Aug 16, 1805. They later moved to White County, Illinois. Does anyone have them in their notes? Karen

    3. Dear Cousins, Received a letter from my Aunt Rena, she said she did not know where this Reuben Calvert data came from. It was not in her research. So as always any data we receive use it lightly until you have hard evidence that it is for real. Good Luck, keep hunting CJ >>> "Carolyn Joy" <[email protected]> 01/12/00 09:37AM >>> Thanks for the reply, I have been on the list for a long time but usually don't have a connection. There are some cousins on this list that are on my line. This is something that just came up and was wondering if any of them have came across this same data. Dear Cousins, Barbara Denton, Muriel Wilson, James Calvert, Cindy Owens, Alice Armentour, Daphne Toome This is on the LDS data base apparently the data was from my Aunt Rena Brown and submitted by Muriel. I am writing Rena and asking for her sources for this data, but she just moved and everything is in storage. But thought James would be interested in this data as he may come across a Reuben Calvert in his research. This is the first time I have seen the name Reuben. Cecelius Calvert son was; Reuben Calvert, born 1740 Scatterday, Belmont, OH Children: 1. John Calvert, b 22 Feb 1766, Scatterday, Belmont, OH; wife Hetty Esther Jones daug. of William Jones 2. 3. Sue, SUE: Nice to see you back; I tried to contact you a time or two but message bounced. I think part of my problem with John being father of Job, John, Jacob, and Sallie was John the father being born about 1747 and Job in 1858 - making the father 11 years old. Now it appears there is a Job born about 1770 - older Job was probably a brother to John born 1747 - so entirely plausible! Hopefully we can unravel this case; it is nice to see more attention to this branch and that so many are involved. If correct, it would be in O'Gorman wouldn't it? Seems I remember George "The Younger" mentioned in the book (I don't have the book but it is available at Minnesota Historical Library and I will certainly obtain one if this works out!) 3. I have decided to put my Family Tree Maker web site back up. I've had sooo many people contact me wanting to know why I removed it. My only explanation is, most people failed to read the intro page where I gave Ella Foy O'Gorman the credit for most of the information. Because they did not read this, I would receive challenges abt the info etc. I have once more given Ella Foy O'Gorman the credit for most of the information, only giving myself credit for researching my personal line back to my g.g.g.g.g.g. grandfather Reuben Calvert who died in the Rev. war. I have also changed the report. Instead of starting with John and doing a descendant report, I started with my grandfather, Steven Bennett Calvert and posted a Ahnentafel report. I hope the report will benefit someone searching for their roots. Double click on the first hi-lighted url to go to my Calvert site. Your Calvert Cousin, Vicki K. 2. To JAMES CALVERT Jim, Thanks for letting me know what the Belmont County Calvert descendants have been up to. Some where in my OLD stack of notes from eons ago I seem to rembmer something about John CALVERT in Bald Eagle Twp., and I seem to remember we decided maybe we were in the wrong area--but can't remember why either-----later this week will try to go through some of those files and see what I can find regarding John in that location. No wonder we've had so much diffulculty--3 counties of involvement. I never thought about checking out anywhere but Centre county as that was where Hannah was born. Again Thanks for the update! 3. Sue, Have not heard from you for a while. Just a quick up date. Based on information Cindy Owens had in her files, a couple of us got together and hired a researcher in PA., Mr. Justin Houser. He found information that indicated the Calverts who settled in Belmont County c. 1800; (John, husband of Esther Jones, Job, and Jacob) were in Bald Eagle Township of Mifflin County (now Centre County) PA. This was based on head tax roles for males in the county. He believes that there was another John Calvert in the township who appears to be the father of John, Job, Jacob and Sallie. He is going to do further research into the records of Northhumbeland County to see if he can find records of land sales, etc... He was not able to find a will or a probate of any sort. The problem in research at this moment is due to the change of the township from Northumberland County to Mifflien County, and then to Centre County. The records for the township are in three different County seats. We are no further in finding the connection of our branch to any of the other Calverts than we were before. However, we are out of Belmont County.
