I don't often send messages to the list - it seems I've covered a number of topics tonight. I have two little books, here: 1926 Directory of the Public Schools of Los Angeles County (Excluding Los Angeles City School) and 1907 Directory of Los Angeles City Schools Each of the books lists teachers within the school districts. Each also lists the locations of individual schools. The 1926 directory lists: teacher's name, school in which that teacher taught, grades or subject taught, yearly salary and HOME ADDRESS. The 1907 directory lists: teacher's name, HOME ADDRESS, school, Room, Grades (A1, B1, etc) and Classes (A1, B1, etc. - not much help to most of us). I'll post responses to the list, if no one objects. The location of the school will be included and perhaps provide information to another researcher. I have been attempting to list school locations on the Southern California Students web page, but it will be quite some time before this project is completed. It will be fun, though. Let me give you an example of a school listing from the 1907 Directory: DISTRICT 18 - Logan Street School - Corner Montana Street. Take Colegrove or Hollywood Car to Echo Park Ave. Take Edendale Car to Montana St. (live was simpler then, even in Los Angeles). Please visit the Southern California Students web site. It has become my obsession. I'd like to move on to other endeavors, but it seems I'm hooked on this one. Only student listings from yearbooks (and sometimes, commencement programs), which are at least 50 years old are listed on the site.
