Sorry for the delay, but are you sure you have the right Death Certificate and person? An Eagle scout would be about 18, which would make him born around 1984, which would put his father born maybe around the 1950-1960's, which in turn should make his father born maybe around the 1930's. Seems you must be one generation back or I have the lineage wrong. Just in case other thoughts: Could the father have remarried? Did your friend look for a marriage while she was at the county recorder's. Have you located them in the 1920 census. This would give you more information on the couple. Was the address given the address of where the person died or did it state specifically residence? How about the informant's address and name? Sometimes the older death certificates do not include residence address, but the informant being a spouse, it will give the address.
