I have been watching the developments of the search for Platt Vallejo with interest, only because I am passionate about California History. Thanks go out to Phil Long for providing this list with a bit of REAL California History. I would like to take this opportunity to suggest reading the Classic in Literature "Two Years Before the Mast". You may have been forced to read that in school. It is one of my favorite books, and it really gives the "up close and personal" history of the California coast about 1850, from the eyes of a sailor coming into San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, on up to San Francisco. These busy overpopulated places were empty then, if you can even imagine that! Go to the Library and check it out. It is a true story. Lillian Kathleen Martin
