According to the LDS file - Lemuel Carpenter died 11/5/1859 - El Monte, Contra Costa, California (I've never heard of El Monte in Contra Costa - El Monte is in San Gabriel Valley -So. Calif -& Contra Costa is in Northern Cal ifornia -it's possible there's another El Monte , but I've never seen it listed) I also checked Marie Northrop's books-Spanish & Mexican Families of Early California 1769-1850 - Vol I & Vol II - for Maria De Los Angeles Dominquez - she is not listed - the Dominquez family has several listings- Lemuel/Samuel Carpenter is not listed. The Los Angeles records begin in 1871 the Carpenters I found between 1871-1900 don't appear to be related - I would suggest you look through the San Gabriel Mission Records (through the LDS films #2642, 2643,2644,2645, 2646) 4/1/1871 - Frank P Carpenter & Maria Inez Gradias 4/7/1872 - Alexnader Carpenter- Sarah Catharine Barham 8/1/1876 Thomas W.
