Still trying to locate descendants of my ancestor Thomas Jackson Stevens, a newspaper man, born ca-1869 in Grimes Co, TX, and died most likely in California before 1942. He married Mossie Durham in Madison County, TX and was living in Navarro County, TX in the 1900 Census. The next record of them is in 1942, when his wife Mossie executes an affidavit while living at 1117 West 6th St in LA in order to secure a delayed birth certificate out of Madison Co, TX for her daughter Leria Lynne Stevens. The wife Mossie Durham Stevens died on 9 May 1967. Children: 1. Nora Stevens, born Aug 1892 in TX - No further info. 2. Leria Lynne Stevens, born 30 Apr 1894 in TX, married a man named Heiss and died in LA 22 Apr 1995 at age 100 years and 11 months. Occupation Organist at Yellowstone Park. No relatives listed in Obit or on death certificate. Info from a "friend." 3. Andrew Jackson Stevens, (aka Jack Stevens), born 23 May 1897 in TX, died in LA on 4 June 1956, occupation Executive Editor Los Angeles Examiner, survived by wife Thelma J Stevens, children Richard J and Robert M Stevens, sisters Lynne Heiss & Rosemary Wyatt, brother Billy T. Stevens. 4. Rosemary Stevens. Born after 1900 ????., Married man named Wyatt location unknown. Listed in brothers obit. 5. Billy T. Stevens, no other info. Listed in brothers obit. This family disappeared after 1900 Census and only reappeared in LA in 1942. On Mossie's death Certificate, it is stated that she lived at 1536 West 12th St in Los Angeles and had lived 41 years in the State of California, meaning she had been in Ca since about 1926. They had other grandchildren other than the 2 listed in Mossie's obit as she said there were 9. Would love to find this family in 1910 or 1920 Census to find out where they had been since 1900. I've checked TX, CA, AZ. NM & Oregon census, but failed to find them. Surely there is someone in Los Angeles that knows of them. Paul R.
