Hi there, I am new to research in California, with most of my folks having stayed on the East Coast. I wanted to write to get a sense for what the process is like for obtaining a death certificate? Specifically, it is the certificate for my great-great-grandmother: Amalia (Lubeck) Bleich DOB: 1 Mar 1873 DOD: 16 Jun 1958 Los Angeles, CA Husband: Sam Bleich Buried: Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Hollywood, LA Also, this couple is Jewish.... are there any Jewish Genealogy Groups in the LA area? Many thanks!
Its very very easy. It costs $14 and you can download the forms from www.lavote.net. Make sure to say you want an 'INFORMATIONAL COPY ONLY' as the form is rather confusing and implied you need a notarized form. You only need those for certificed copies. It takes about 3 weeks from the time you mail it till the time it comes back. I always encloses a SASE and it is always sent back in it. There is a very brief announcement in the June 18, 1958 Historical Los Angeles Times newspaper (I'll send you a copy in a separate email) which states the following: June 18, 1958 Amalia Bleich Malinow and Silverman, directors Malinow and Silverman is still in business (web link is below). You may wish to contact them to see if they have anything that they can share with you about Amalia. http://malinowsilverman.com/ Joseph Antunez On 6/10/12 1:27 PM, "GrowingATree" <growingatree@hotmail.com> wrote: Hi there, I am new to research in California, with most of my folks having stayed on the East Coast.
