    3. Joseph, thanks so much for this! That announcement listing the funeral home was very helpful. I call them today and they were able to tell me that Bella Steinberg (her daughter) arranged the funeral..... Which is exactly what I needed to know!  I was hoping to link the two women. May I ask the list.... Sam's first wife Rose likely died in California. I am surprised that she is not buried with him, and instead his second wife is??? Sam and (2nd wife) Amalia are buried in the Jewish section of Hollywood Forever Cemetery in LA. Now,to obtain the death records.  Would the LDS Family History Library have these records of death (Los Angeles 1958)?  Guess I need to look into that. I'd like to get the records for Amalia, her husband Sam, Bella and Morris Steinberg. And, Rose, if possible..... Sam Bleich DOD 29 Mar 1957 Los Angeles Husband of Amalia Bleich Burial: Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Isabel (Bella) Steinberg DOD 21 May 1981 Covina, Los Angeles, CA Wife of Morris Steinberg Burial: Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Morris Steinberg DOD 1983 Los Angeles, CA Husband of Bella Friedner Steinberg Burial: Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Rose Bleich DOD possibly 13 Apr 1956 Los Angeles, CA NOTE: In the 1936 CA Voter Registration rolls, Rose Bleich and her daughter Jean are at one address and Sam Bleich is at another..... might they have divorced? It was so rare at that time... Many kind regards!

The LDS is not likely to have any California Death certificates. I want to mention that I have had trouble reading the copies of Death Certificates ordered from LAVote because of the color scheme that they use, so I choose to wait the six months it takes to get them from the State of California instead. The main problem for me has been the watermark or whatever words are printed are in Black and obscure the information I need to see beneath those words. The certificates from the State are in thin Red, and much easier to read what is underneath. Processing time may be a more critical factor for you, but when I needed to figure out what the name was of a Polish town and name of a spouse written under those Black Letters, it was extremely difficult. In case you want to try the State, the URL is http://www.cdph.ca.gov/certlic/birthdeathmar/Pages/CertifiedCopiesofBirthDeathRecords.aspx Now, for finding the deaths of your other ancestors, we have a great resource in the California Death Index, which is available at many free sites. Here is the URL for the one at Rootsweb, sorry the link is so long and ugly: http://vitals.rootsweb.com/ca/death/search.cgi?cj=1&o_xid=0000584 If that breaks, Family Search (the LDS site) also has the CDI: https://www.familysearch.org/

    3. If you want to see who lived where and when, try the city directories. CA city directories have helped me a lot...
