Hello, My stepdaughter was adopted. The Court issued a birth certificate showing the adopted parents. Can she get a birth record showing the true parents? Alan Rossing, Monterey, CA
Alan, She received the "amended" birth certificate. Some counties in CA are open, but some are closed to getting original birth records. Send me her birthdate, county of birth, and "adopted" mother's maiden name. I will try to get the info looked up for you. I did a search on Vitalsearch.com there is one girl born on 1 7 1960 last name Allison no first name. mother's maiden name listed as Allison.. Since I am no longer a member of Vitalsearch I could not get any other info This is the only baby girl listed with no first name & last name same as mother's maiden name. In my searches I have found this is a possiblity of being a child placed for adopt. At Ancestry (I am not a member so could only get partial info I found the following on the marriages in San Bernardino Calif 1960 to 1985 Anita F Allison to Randel M redfield; Kelly R Allison to Keneth M Astley; Susan L Allison to Stanley D Brings; Delores A Allison m Daniel Rodreguez. I am not sure if she can get a copy of her original BC all states are different but you should be able to search the birth index. If you do go to the Hall of Records in SB don't mention adoption - Just tell them you are doing family history research.
