I see that in addition to the birth and death indexes there are actual images of birth certificates at least up to 1930 as well as death certificates as recent as 1978. How I wish that all of my families were from L.A. county! FamilySearch is definitely an increasingly wonderful resource. After I wrote my previous note I looked around a bit more and now am in the process of browsing through some San Joaquin Co. (Stockton) certificates in search of my great-grandfather’s death certificate. They are more or less in chronological order, but so far no luck. If I knew the certificate number that would certainly help. Perhaps I can find it in an index.......
