The 1987 National Directory of Mortuaries shows Bellflower Mortuary at 10333 E. Alondra, Bellflower, CA 90706 and a phone number of 213-867-1778. Lots has happened since this version was printed but it is a start. They are printed ever year and almost all mortuaries have up-to-date copies, so if you draw a blank with the above number, I'd suggest going to your nearest Mortuary and asking them to look it up for you. They will be very accommodating because they want your business (sooner or later!) In fact, the new issues come out about November and the old ones are mostly tossed in the trash. I went to a nearby mortuary one November and asked if I could have their old copy when their new one arrived. As it happened, they had just received the new one and were happy to put the old one to use. (Again, they are thinking of good customer relations). I put the year-old copy on our gen. society's shelves at the library for general use. This directory gives far more information than just the name and address. It lists the nearest airport, the nearest newspaper, and the population of the town, and has lots of advertisements that often will say "the Oldest Mortuary in town," which is a good thing to know if you are going after old information. I do believe that this is a very unknown and underused resource.
