I need help locating obituaries, or where they were buried, on George and Anna Lustig. I live in Northern California and do not have access to Los Angeles historical newspapers. George Lustig was supposedly born in 1873 in Vienna, passed away in New York City on Apr 25, 1931, and was buried in Los Angeles. His wife Anna was born in 1875 in Berlin, and passed away in Los Angeles city or county on 04/18/1945, where she also was buried. I did check the New York Times archives and found no obituary for him there. Her date of death is listed in the California Death Index, but I am not finding confirmation of his date of death. Unless they were prominent people, it is unlikely that you will find an obituary for either one in the Los Angeles Times. And, in fact, I found none in the online Historical Los Angeles Times Archive. Your best bet for locating their place of burial and next of kin is to order Anna's death certificate from the California Dept. of Public Health or from the Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk; the cost is $12. I located a listing for George's death in the NYC death index. It's Manhattan cert. #11785. You can order George's death certificate from the NYC Municipal Archives; the cost is $10 if you provide the certificate number with your order.
