Hello fellow listers, I'm pretty excited. I have just found a real possibility of an ancestor's "Declaration on Intention". First, some background of what little I know. His name is Richard Max Krause. He was born in Germany abt. 1902. He seems to have immigrated to the U.S through the Port of Galveston, Texas, arriving 1/1/1930 at 27 years of age. His final destination is listed as Duarte, CA. If I am following the correct man, he died 7/13/1968 in Los Angeles Co., residence 929 W. Walnut, Monrovia, which is very close to Duarte. Parents listed as Mathew & Ann Krause, married; spouse is Fran. Buried Live Oak Cemetery , which is in Monrovia. I also have a birth record of his son in 1934 and his address at that time was in Hollywood, the child's mother's residence in Covina (her name was Berniece). Covina is also in the vicinity of Monrovia and Duarte. I have doubts they ever married, they lived at different residences and she was 13 years younger (at 19 yrs old). The son at some point later took on the surname Temple (possibly through a step-father), which was the only name I ever knew. I never knew he was actually born a Krause until I obtained his death record (as a Temple) which lists his father's name as Richard Krause b. Germany. and subsequently his birth record (obviously as a Krause) listing his father as Richard Max Krause, b. Germany. From those two records, I was able to research backwards to the rest of the above. For the life of me, I cannot find this Richard Max Krause in the 1930 U.S. census records. He should be in TX, CA or somewhere en route in between with the census that year taken in April. On Footnote.com , the Declaration of Intention I found is for one Richard Max Krause, birth country Germany, the document year being 1931. The publication title is* *Naturalization Petitions for the Southern District Of California, 1887-1940. Ok, so this seems to fit very well. I am only a free basic member of Footnote, so I don't have access to the image. My questions are, can someone who has actually obtained a record such as this around 1931 tell me what I might gain from purchasing the image? Or better yet, is there anyone with full access to Footnote that would be willing to look at the image and tell me if what it shows could be the same person I'm researching or at least tell me the "kind" of information it provides? I want an idea of what is found on a ca. 1931 "Intention" record, ie; current address given? parent's names? marriage status/info?, relatives?, witnesses? Anything to try to connect to this man that I've had difficulty tracing for many many years. Thanks for any help anyone may be able to provide and if anyone thinks they might connect, please contact me. Much appreciated. Luana
