It's indices, but in the case of the computers in Norwalk, unfortunately there's very little info contained. The name of the decedent, date of death, and State File Number, if I remember correctly. The last time I went, a year or so ago, the computers were available to the public - as long as you don't mind giving the people behind the counter your name, address, driver's license number and autograph, and leaving it with them. They used to be more or less required if you were looking for death certificates - staff didn't believe that the public could possibly obtain the State File Number any other way, and they weren't going to look anything up without it. Limit was 5 certificates (of any type) per session.
