Regarding the discussions about obtaining birth certificates, which is faster, LA County in Santa Fe Springs, or Sacramento? I was born at 1318 So. Herbert St. in 1934. A few blocks east of the Los Angeles eastern city limit of Indiana St. The neighborhood, unincorporated, between Los Angeles and Montebello, was called Belvedere Gardens. The local newspaper was the E.L.A. Tribune, and E.L.A. Gazette. Each published once a week, and out of the same building. I don't know if they still exist, nor where their back copies may exist somewhere on microfilm. Does anyone know? I attended Eastman St. school, Stevenson Jr. High, and Garfield High School, class of W'53. East Los Angeles College majoring in history, then into CalState LA into the 3rd year when I made a life goal change. I ended up owning a 7-Eleven at 105 N. Vincent in Covina from 1980 to 1989. I retired at age 54 in '89. I spent the years between 1960, and 1970 driving the blue Montebello Municipal Bus while trying to get through college. I had a friend, Francis Theriot, who was an expert in ELA history. He was born in 1915, and spent his entire life living there and in Montebello. His entire career was "milkman" delivering dairy products to homes. The dairy was/is on Bluff Rd. in Montebello, next to Rio Hondo river. Among the things he told me was that Whittier Blvd. was originally Stevenson Ave., and was an unpaved dirt road at one time. Alas, he has died. I wish I had corresponded, and talked with him more. He graduated Garfield High in 1933. Isn't that the case far too often? I'd love to see a picture of my mother Grace Crist in a Stevenson Jr. High yearbook for 1927 (?) '28, and '29. What's the url for the site that has yearbooks?
