    1. [CALOSANG] Marriage Cert. ca 1904
    2. I have received a copy of a marriage certificate for my great grandmother, ca 1904, in Long Beach, CA. It gives the groom's and bride's names, the witnesses, and the officiant. Does anyone know if there was a marriage certificate application that would have provided more information regarding the family of the bride or groom during this time period? I have tried contacting the officiant's church without success in obtaining additional information, I have been unable to locate the stated witnesses in the 1900 or 1910 census, and the groom is unfortunately deceased by 1907. I do not have direct access to records in SoCal, so would appreciate any insight. Thanking you in advance for your kind assistance, Robin

    3. You would have to contact the L.A. Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's office in Norwalk to find out if they retain marriage license applications. I think it is unlikely they would have retained applications from as far back as 1904. I tried to get a copy of a marriage license application from the early 1960s from San Bernardino County. I was told that because the state does not require retention of the applications, they are destroyed after about 5 years.
