    1. [CALOSANG] Finley McKay death certificate
    2. Thanks to all who looked into Finley McKay/Mackay. Yes that is old Finley, he left his family after his oldest daughter died. He lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He eventually ended up in California.I have is death certificate. I think who ever posted where he lived in Burbank, was to embarrassed to say that he lived in a flop house in Bakersfield, and made up a story about him living in Burbank. And put it in the Book"The Story of Iowa:the progress of an American State. "1952. His last known residence was the Sanger Hotel in Bakersfield. He died at the Kern General Hospital of Senility and cancer of the tongue. the embalmer was A.D. Benntt, the Hopson Mortuary, Bakersfield, California. The in format on the death certificate was Beatrice Davis the Nursing supervisor at Kern General Hospital. the death certificate mentions Alice Mackay as his wife and that his residency was Cedar Rapid, Iowa. And that he lived in California for 22 years. He is possible buried at the Union Cemetery in Bakersfield. Can someone check that for me, and possibly get me a picture of his tombstone. There was no death notice. Two local newspapers were checked for five days after his death. The Bakersfield Californian and the Morning Echo. There was no obituary published. He died Sept 22, 1938. On 1936 he lived in Tulare County at 408 East 8th Visalia. A retired Millwright. and a democrat. Does anyone know what is located at that address? When he lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a millwright for Quaker Oats. His whole life was somewhat a mystery. As his wife divorced him in absentia. Finley was born April 4, In Bridgend, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland April 4, 1859. I wonder why Finlay went to California.Possibly to follow a relative. He was 6'6" tall. Finlay always said he was the seventh son of a seventh son. And his relatives in Iowa would get a wire from California saying Finlay died, they new that he was still alive, and needed money. Sincerely, J. Scott McKay his great grandson. I believe the CADI listing for the death in 1906 is in Trinity County, county #53, Finley/Finkey McKAY age 80yrs, d.4/10/06. Do you know when Finley died in Burbank? I couldn't find a listing in CADI for him in Los Angeles County. Found this census info for 1910 IA, could this be Finley and his family? might help find him in later censuses.
