OBIT: Los Angeles TIMES, 5 June 1958, Page B6, HERBERT HEYES OF SILENT FILM ERA DIES. The death of Herbert HEYES, leading man of the silent films days, was disclosed yesterday. The 68-year-old former actor died last Saturday at his home, 11847 Runnymede St., North Hollywood. In accordance with his wishes, there were no funeral services. Cremation took place Tuesday. Mr. HEYES made his film debut with Theda BARA in "Under Two Flags" in 1916. He appeared in other pictures with Betty BLYTHE, Ruth ROLAND and Alla NAZIMOVA. His films included "Ever Since Eve," "The Shattered Dreams," "One Stolen Night," "In the Fog," "I Can Explain," and "Don't Write Letters." More recently, he portrayed the father in "A Place in the Sun." In 1929 he performed as Allesandro in the Ramona Pageant. He was born at Little Falls, Wash., and began his acting career in stock companies. He had been ill for the last three years and in critical condition for the final three weeks. He leaves his widow Helene and two sons by a former marriage, Douglas and Herbert, Jr., both of this area. Internet Movie DataBase gives his POB as Vader, WA.
