    3. The originals are in Norwalk. So unless you want to try to track down church records, or civil records for another county, you're stuck with Norwalk. Things have changed there somewhat over the last couple of years. I was there earlier this year and it wasn't quite as unfriendly as it had been. Go with a list of up to five events you want to research. You'll have to look them up in the computers to get the ID numbers, then hand in your applications at the desk. I've never figured out the logic to whether they give you the original or a photocopy you can't take with you... was no end startled when they handed me the original 1895 birth certificate I'd asked about.
