The address in Norwalk is the place to go. It is off of the 5 or the 605 Freeways. They have free parking. Walk in the building and go toward the back for the elevators. Follow the signs in the basement. They do ask you to fill in the name and time area you are looking for, plus show your ID. We are only allowed to look at *5 *records per day. The older records have to be searched in the big index books. Then you take the reference number to them and they will give you a copy of the record to*look at. *If you want to keep the record, you will have to go upstairs and pay for it. Then the record is mailed to you. Some records are indexed via the computer and the record is probably on a microfilm reel. The attendants will give you to film to view and write down the information. The people down there are very nice and helpful. I recommend going in the afternoon, as it is usually not so busy and crowded. Good luck in your class! Liz Stookesberry Myers
Is the Norwalk site for all of Los Angles County? I need to find a divorce file and the marriage for the divorced couple. Thanks for the input. It's open M-F, right? I saw something about the Norwalk office being open only one day. Perhaps that was for something different. You make it sound easy. I'm sure it's as good as it can get these days. I may have difficulty writing a report regarding their holdings, but at least I can get some records that interest me. I'm glad you told me the off ramps. That gives me a better idea. I lived and worked in that area for a long time. -------------------------------------------------- From: "Liz Stookesberry Myers" <stookesberry@gmail.com> Sent: Friday, September 09, 2011 10:15 AM To: <CALOSANG@rootsweb.com> Subject: [CALOSANG] LA Hall of Records > The address in Norwalk is the place to go.
