    3. I used to work at a Florsheim Shoe Store and we had a pay phone in the back.  Mind you, this was years before computers came along.  When customers would ask if another store had a particular shoe, the manager of the store would point at the phone and say, "Your dime is as good as mine", meaning, there was nothing he could do for the customer that with the right motivation and energy, they could do themself.   Same thing applies here.  I can E-mail the coroners office just as well as anyone, or much better, call.  Google equalizes all of us.   Joe --- On Fri, 6/13/08, A. 3. Hi, all. I got Cornor report for my grandaunt Mamie who died on the year of 1923 in San Luis Obispo few years ago. The report did not tell me much because it shows much same information on death certificate. Maybe, in 1981 is different than it was back then. As you know, it is more detailed technically and advanced education nowdays. I believe so. Will see. My grandparents aren't listed in the 1930 census, even though I know for a fact they were living in Pasadena. In 1940 we don't have the benefit of the census records yet, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a directory or something. I'm trying to compile all my California addresses into one database...mostly because I'm really weird and feel the need to do that. (I do know that when my dad was born in 1940 he was brought home to Howard St. Before Howard St., his grandparents lived on Lincoln...right where they put the 210!) ...Marcella ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Thank you, Deborah and Mark for your advice and help. My grandparents were Russell & Anna Bailey. They were married by then and expecting their first child. I don't think she was born by the time the census came around, but if she was, her name was/is Janet Bailey. They most likely were in Pasadena, as they hung around in that area until at least my dad was born in 1940. Russell Lucius Bailey was born on May 30, 1909 in Massachusetts. Anna Louise Bailey (nee Gates) was born on Feb 24, 1909 in Ohio. My great-grandparents were Frank & Louisa (or Louise) Gates. I have them in the 1930 Census on Lincoln Ave in Pasadena. By the way, I'm having tons of fun finding the addresses then looking them up on Google Maps (Street View). A lot of them are still there. I have a picture of my other side of the family standing in front of a house on 37th Street in L.A. The pictures was circa 1910. I Googled and found the house and it looks nearly the same. Very cool! By the way, I sent out a request regarding Daryl Gates' first wife. I'm not sure if it was received, but if anyone is able to help me, can you send it to me off list? I want to respect his privacy. Marcella

    3. tc, Does Anna's death notice mention where the funeral was and who the mortuary was? They will often have family information in their records on the deceased. The dct will also have the mortuary information. Try writing to/calling them. regards, Loretta > From: [email protected] > Subject: CALOSANG Digest, Vol 3, Issue 83 > To: [email protected] > Date: Sat, 7 Jun 2008 01:02:08 -0600 > > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. 3. Thanks for checking these out. I'm still struggling to learn which indices are available for which various states. But knowing that George's was out there, I was able to locate it at http://www.italiangen.org/NYCDeathSearch.asp which is a really cool resource. I knew they had marriages, but didn't know deaths were there as well, thank you. Someone else found Anna's death notice and wrote me off list. Unfortunately, you're right. It is brief, no info about relatives in it, just a funeral announcement. This family is a challenge as their descendants spread out all across the country, and I haven't had great luck with locating those not in California. But I will persist! Thanks, tc On 6/5/08, Mark Lomax <[email protected]> wrote: > Unless they were prominent people, it is unlikely that you will find an > obituary for either one in the Los Angeles Times. 3. Unless they were prominent people, it is unlikely that you will find an obituary for either one in the Los Angeles Times. And, in fact, I found none in the online Historical Los Angeles Times Archive. Your best bet for locating their place of burial and next of kin is to order Anna's death certificate from the California Dept. of Public Health or from the Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk; the cost is $12. I located a listing for George's death in the NYC death index. It's Manhattan cert. #11785. You can order George's death certificate from the NYC Municipal Archives; the cost is $10 if you provide the certificate number with your order. Here's a link to the municipal archives webpage: http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/vitalrecords/death.shtml Mark Lomax On 6/5/08, the cohens <[email protected]> wrote: > > I need help locating obituaries, or where they were buried, on George > and Anna Lustig. 1. [CALOSANG] GEORGE and ANNA LUSTIG: cemetary and obituary information?

    3. I need help locating obituaries, or where they were buried, on George and Anna Lustig. I live in Northern California and do not have access to Los Angeles historical newspapers. George Lustig was supposedly born in 1873 in Vienna, passed away in New York City on Apr 25, 1931, and was buried in Los Angeles. His wife Anna was born in 1875 in Berlin, and passed away in Los Angeles city or county on 04/18/1945, where she also was buried. I did check the New York Times archives and found no obituary for him there. Her date of death is listed in the California Death Index, but I am not finding confirmation of his date of death. I want to find their obituaries so I can track down their descendants, as a number of Lustigs married my into Vishnick line. http://freepages.family.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~thecohens/mvishnick.html Thanks for any help.
