    3. Suggest you post your obituary request for Horst Egon GRAF to Rootsweb's San Francisco mailing list if' he died there. People there will be more likely to help as they have access to Bay Area Resources. http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/usa/CA/san_francisco.html#CASANFRA For other counties or states, search appropriate mailing lists at: http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com For immigration records searches for a $20 fee, the government URL is: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis Just click on "Site Map" and then "Genealogy," the link is too long to reliably paste in here. If you want to order records they identify, there is an additional fee. If you could get to an LDS Family History library, you could do the search yourself for free, and maybe find other records as well of their marriages. (2) Anna Smith probably in Cook Co., Ill. issue: Sarah b. ca 1862 Ill. Edwin F., as above William A. June 1875 Ill., died there 28 June 1927. Here is where there is a conflict: In Philadelphia, Pa. there is an Edwin Winterborne b. Sept. 1826 Oxford, England. m (1) Catherine Boyer who died in Philadelphia 19 Dec 1891 They had one son, Charles Boyer Winterborne b. Oct. 1856 Philadelphia D. Feb. 1920 in Brooklyn, Kings Co, NY m. Later (no date known) he wrote his wife in Phila and asked for money to come home, that he had been "shangheid to the S. Pacific". She wrote to him and told him to find the same way home that he found to leave". He didn't return that is known and she declared him dead in 1889. My theory is that he do was dodging a Civil War Draft. The family in Chicago spell the surname Winterburn consistently. The family in Philadelphia spell it Winterborne consistently. A Bigamist who hid to avoid serving in the Civil War or even a more ominous reason? Deanna Smith

    3. I also was there yesterday and found out the same thing. Tested out the system by using my son's birth and it is correct. First Name, Last Name and Date are required to get the certificate number. No additional information is displayed. George says this is the same for marriages and deaths. I also asked if the certificate numbers displayed are the same as the other ones we have looked up in the years past and he says they are. One can still search the books for anything that pre-dates the computers, tho. Vitalsearch & Ancestry indexes will be come more important, but even they do not have anything more current. One can still pay the search fee on the first floor and they will do the search for you. I believe the search fee is the same as the cost of purchasing the certificate. Such a sad day for us genealogiest. Deborah Story

It is only good if you have the right date for birth, marriage or death! Often my clients do not know the exact date of a death, etc. Is there anything we can do to change the county's mind? George said he tried to tell them, it was NOT a good idea! But they did it anyway!!!! Ugh!!!!!! Liz Myers -- Have a great day and a better tomorrow. Brian Smith, News-Enterprise

    3. Hello Pat, At one time I tried locating and obtaining CCC records or some sort of list of the workers in Oklahoma, was unsuccessful. I did find that at that time it was possible to obtain the records of a direct descendant only, but this was quite a while ago. I started my search by going to the NARA website. I also googled CCC camps in the area in which I was looking. There is a lot of information out there about the camps, I hope you are able to find what you're looking for. Good Luck Also, I would be very interested in knowing if the names of the workers at these camps (in any state) have been made readily available to researchers somewhere.
