On 13 June I posted a lookup request (LA Times Death Notice) that so far has not been answered. Also sought help in locating a Marriage index but original time frame was after 1930. Now I have a marriage time frame of 3 years (1939-1942), which I found .using LA Public Library City Directories (on-line). In 1939 City Directory, Carrie Liaboe was living at 4852 Maywood as a widow and Charles Aycock, chiropractor, was living at N 50th Ave – estranged from his first wife also named Carrie. In 1942 City Directory, Charles F AYCOCK is also living at 4852 Maywood with wife “Karrien”. (Carrie Liaboe was born 1871 with given name Karen Maria.) “BRIDE” – probably married between 1939 and 1942 DEATH NOTICE Request (restated from earlier message) KAREN AYCOCK (aka, Carrie LIABO) - maiden Hegman DoB Feb 5 1881 (though US Census suggest 1871) PoD - residence 5248 Maywood Ave, LA DoD May 8, 1946 “GROOM” – Charles Frances AYCOCK DoB 26Nov1865] PoB Mississippi DoD 04Aug1959 If anyone can find a marriage index (1939-1942 range) between Charles AYCOCK and Carrie LIABO, or even LA Times announcement of it, I'd appreciate it. Thanks again and have a great California summer! Ralph from Chicago (some days warm, some days still chilly/rainy).
Just received transcribed CA Death Certs from a RAOGK volunteer, and am seeking to prove that Karen AYCOCK was originally Carrie Liabo (as her DC suggests). KAREN AYCOCK (aka, Carrie LIABO) - maiden Hegman PoB - Norway DoB Feb 5 1881 (though US Census suggest 1871) PoD - residence 5248 Maywood Ave, LA DoD May 8, 1946 Burial: Forest Lawn Mem. Park - I presume this is the originally Hollywood Hills one? Funeral Director: Utter-McKinley Mortuary, 5860 No Figueroa St BTW: Norwegian records suggest she was born "Karen Maria" Knutsen, but her father used HEGGEM when he emigrated, and she married in Chicago. ---------------- The only Charles AYCOCK in the CADI is: Charles Frances AYCOCK DoB 26Nov1865] PoB Mississippi DoD 04Aug1959 SSN - 557-32-4934 (NOTE: This SSN was not found in SSDI.) ------------ In the 1930 census, Carrie LIABO was a widow of 55, and lived 4862 Maywood Ave (same address in 1928 when her first husband Ole LIABO died), so she remarried probably afer 1930- I previously received her first husband's LA Times Death Notice. If anyone can find a marriage index or even LA Times announcement of it, I'd appreciate it. Ralph from Chicago

Hello: I am writing to request a lookup for an obituary for George Albert McClister, please. George was born 22 December 1915 in the state of Utah, and died 9th February 1990 in Monterey Park, Los Angeles. His wife may have been Mary Ann. Many thanks in advance, Alison Kilpatrick Nova Scotia, Canada
Hello, I saw your name under the Obituary Lookup contact list. I was hoping that maybe you could help me with two lookups for Long Beach, Ca. If you can't do you know of anyone that can help me? I live in Masachusetts and it is very difficult to research my family tree from Massachusetts. Thank you, Joe Campbell
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Hazel DOAK and her brother Edley DOAK. The photograph was taken at the Elite Studio in San Diego, California, likely sometime in the 1880's with the two children appearing to be about 2-4 years old at the time. In addition to their names, someone has written "N. S. DOAK, Lusardi, Cal" on the back of the photograph along with some order information and then penciled in numbers which make it appear to be a child's practice paper. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding the children and their family: Edley C. DOAK was b. 30 Jul 1884 in CA to parents Nathaniel S. DOAK (b. Dec 1846 in Wythe Co. VA) and Sally Elizabeth PRITCHARD (b. 6 Jan 1856 in MO). Edley married Georgia FARMAN (daughter of Floran FARMAN and Dollie THOMPSON) on 15 Oct 1910 in Los Angeles Co. CA and died in Santa Clara Co. CA on 7 Jul 1965. Hazel Olive DOAK was b. 17 Oct 1885 in Lompoc, CA to the same parents noted above. Hazel first married Tom V. VARNEY on 16 Oct 1906 in Los Angeles Co. CA, Tom was 29 years old at the time of their marriage. Hazel later married ? JACKSON and died Dec 1975 in Cleburne, TX. Census records provide the following information: 1900 census of Bernardo Township, CA: Nathaniel S. DOAK, age 53, born Dec 1846, married 17 years, born VA, parents born VA, a Farmer Sallie L. DOAK, wife, age 43, born Jan 1857, married 17 years, 5 children/5 living, born MO, parents born TN Edly C. DOAK, son, age 15, born Jul 1884, born CA, a Farm Laborer Hazel O. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Minnie E. WILLIAMS which was taken at the Brown Studio in Marshalltown, Iowa. The photograph is dated 1892 and notes that Minnie is 25 years old at that time. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Minnie and her family: Mary Elizabeth WILLIAMS was b. 16 Dec 1867 in Delavan, WI to parents Robert Henry WILLIAMS (b. 30 Aug 1840 in Earlville, NY) and Elizabeth GOFF (b. 7 Jul 1841 in Delavan, WI). The couple had four children including Mary Elizabeth; Margaret Irene; Robert Marcellus; and Richard Leroy WILLIAMS all born in Marshalltown, IA. The family moved to Pasadena, CA in 1886. Mary married Arthur Buckner CASE (b. 24 Sept 1861 in Adel, IA) on 29 Jul 1896 in CA and together they had a son, Harold Arthur CASE. Minnie and her husband moved to Somerton, AZ in 1898 where she became the Postmaster for Yuma. In 1904 the couple returned to Pasadena, CA. Mary died in Pasadena, CA on 9 Dec 1961 and is buried at the Mountain View Cemetery in Altadena, CA. CADI and SSDI lists the following relevant info: VERA LORENZ D 07/20/1992 age 86 B 08/15/1905 (Pennsylvania) - probably Pittsburgh Maiden (father's name) DEAKIN Mother name REINING Death Place (Los Angeles co, Santa Monica 90404) Especially interested in uncovering names of siblings (Dorothy, Thomas F, ...), children/grandchildren to serve as basis for further research into the DEAKIN family. I recently acquired birthday postcards sent 1911 to my great-great-grandmother JONES on her 89th birthday, and several cards were sent by several people named DEAKIN -- a previously unknown family line. (One card was from a sister Mary, several more were from nephews/nieces and one possibly grandchildren; several did not list a familiar title.) I'll contact someone from RAOGK for a transcription of her DC if possible too, or order it at a later time. Ralph from Chicago (NOTE: There are several DEAKIN, DEKIN, DAKIN in the US census in Pennsylvania and other states, who appear to not be related.)

It's a simple collection of free ancestry resources and how to use them. My wife and friends encouraged me to put this website together. So I put this website together: http://sites.google.com/site/FunSimpleFreeAncestry It contains a lot of links to websites that are already in many of the GenWeb County websites.
