Hi all; This has been a hectic week. As many of you have noticed, there is a note on the website regarding some problems we were having with our tables. We have found a solution and Aaron, Steve and Laura are working on it as fast as they can, but these files are large and all have to be reformated and then uploaded again to the site. This is taking a little bit of time. Please be patient and it will be worth it. The new updated information will be not only Internet Explorer friendly, but Netscape friendly as well. I don't know about the WebTV situation yet. We will have to wait and see. In the meantime, the transcriptionists are working like little beavers on the continuation of the batches. Based on the information that I have, when the site is back to full capacity again the following will be added to the site as completed: Kern County San Bernardino County Book Two Humboldt County Book Two San Luis Obispo County A-N Possibly Santa Barbara County Modoc County Placer County And about 30 batches of San Francisco County There could even be more by then as well. As you can tell, we are progressing, even though the website is being revamped for past problems. We have also distributed the following counties for work to begin on Transcription: Part of Fresno County Shasta County Del Norte County Lake County Part of Sierra County Part of Mono County Part of Santa Cruz County And lots more of San Francisco County ALSO, although it will be awhile before we get to them, we are in the process of starting to collect marriage and birth records for some of the counties so that we will have them when the deaths are completed. PLEASE, do not ask for lookups. We are going as fast as we can to get these online and cannot do lookups and maintain our current speed of work. We will NOT do lookups regardless of your reasoning. Please be patient. We are working as fast as our fingers will go. Some BAD NEWS.... It appears as if there are no records available for El Dorado County. Rumor has it that one of the employees ran off with the records and sold them, but we have no access to them. Also, these records were NOT filmed by the LDS church either so getting that won't work either. We had heard they were at the Huntington Library, but have learned that is not the case either. We may be able to get some records, but they will be minimal at this point in time. Some GOOD NEWS.... We have somebody checking into the availability of the Ventura County records and should know in the not too distant future what is going on here and if we can get access. Say lotsa prayers and keep your fingers crossed. These records are also NOT filmed by the LDS church either. Sooooo, as you can tell, with all these changes going on, life has definitely been hectic on the pre-1905 project. Keep an eye on the site to see the changes come about. When all is said and done with the upgrades, we will also have sources listed on the site for your reference. Just be patient. We are listening to you all and your comments...the fix-its just don't happen overnight. Donations to the project are still needed and can be sent to me at the address below. Need an obit look up on a death in Los Angeles County, Los Angeles on August 8, 1958. Died at the Fredericka Home for the Aged. Name METHA SCOTT ZIMMERMAN. Want the obit to find family and grandchildren? She was cremated, at Greenwood Crematory. Anyone have the address/phone number? Funeral director was Hubbard Mortuary. Are they still in business? Don't know where burial or ashes are. She was listed as widowed. Listed that her residence was San Diego, Chula Vista on her death certificate, for 24 years. No family listed on this form. I put DUNBLAIN into a search at ancestry.com. Three messages were found on message boards, which ended up being text with reference to Dunblain, Scotland. The three items that were supposedly vital records would not open up for me. Nothing was found from the directories that rootsweb search brought up. Maybe Douglas was from Scotland? Good luck. She just died in Jan 2002 4th. She was my mom and I am trying to get a copy of her obit if any and her divorce papers from my dad. They were onfile in pasadena court house.

I have the marriage record from Los Angeles From 1952 (thanks Deborah!) and the death record from Los Angeles from 1959 saying she's divorced, so somewhere in-between is a divorce. Any suggestions how to find the divorce records? Thanks! Chris

I just joined the list last night and hope someone here and give me a big boost here. I am looking for my gr-gr-grandmother and grandfather. Ina or Ida May Hocking Evans. Ina was born in 1868 in Wisconsin (according to 1880 census). She died in 1935 in Los Angles County, I believe in Long Beach. Her husband was Samuel Evans, born 1856 in Wales, in died 11 Nov 1918 Los Angles County, once again I suspect Long Beach. If anyone can give me a help with these people I would greatly appreciate it. Hello all, I was hoping that someone on this list might have access to 1934 and 1935 directories for Glendale, Los Angeles Co, CA. I am hoping for a look up in these years for Lester Gravlin / Gravelin and wife Irene (who may have been going by Eraine). These were my grandparents and I am hoping to determine when the moved to CA from NY so I might figure out when/where they were married.
