    1. [CALosAngeles] pre-1905 weekly update
    2. Hi all; Time for the weekly update. No, you will not notice any changes on the website yet, but they are coming and major ones when they do. As soon as Steve and Aaron get all the work done and it all uploaded which could be anyday now, you will see the following additions: Sources for all the counties which have been completed. The following new areas for lookup: Parts of Amador County Parts of Del Norte County Parts of Humboldt County Kern County Lake County More in Los Angeles County Modoc County Parts of Nevada County Placer County The Rest of San Bernardino County More San Francisco County San Luis Obispo County Parts of Santa Barbara County Sutter County Parts of Tehama County And possibly even more. We are getting a lot done, but with all the problems that we have been having on the website, we are on a holding pattern for your lookups so that we can get everything solved and online. Other Counties currently in the transcription phase are: Alameda County Parts of Fresno County Klamath County Monterey County Orange County Parts of Plumas County Santa Cruz County Shasta County Parts of Sierra County Tulare County And more of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Butte, etc. We now have over 130 transcribers on this project and will soon be breaking into the marriage and birth records for transcription. We are in the process of designing the templates for those now. Please be patient and soon I will be announcing that all the changes are complete and the site has all the updates. In the meantime, we are continuing with the transcription of several counties and are rapidly acquiring more records to be transcribed, thanks to all those that have contributed to the project to help acquire the copies of these records. Donations for the project can be made out to me and sent to me at the address below. One more time, I am going to ask that you NOT request lookups during the transcription phase of this project. We keep getting requests and there is no way that we can comply. It will not be that long till all these are online and available for you to search. PLEASE BE PATIENT. Thank you for your understanding. Not much more to say right now. I ran away for a couple days to recollect my sanity and for some R + R so I can get back into this with more enthusiasm. (Sorry guys, but if you had my job, you would definitely understand the necessity for that). If you have any questions regarding the project, or suggestions or ideas, feel free to contact me and I will get back to you as soon as I possibly can. Till next week..... 3. Hollywood Cemetery is now called Hollywood Forever. They are under new management and have some really great projects. They have events to honor some of the stars who are buried there, like Valentino, etc. Some good links: http://www.hollywood-underground.com/hf.htm http://www.findagrave.com/cemeteries/20.html Joe --- Annerupert@aol.com wrote: > Hello, > > Just received the death certificate of an ancestor > and burial place 1941 was > listed as Crematory - Hollywood Cemetery - Funeral > Director B E Dayton Inc in > Beverly Hills Ca. > > Addresses of deceased was 1722 N Benedict Canyon > Dr. > > My question is: Where would this Hollywood Cemetery > be? 3. There is a Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery located at Santa Monica Blvd. and Gower Street in Los Angeles. Years ago my Girl Scout Troop leader took us there on a field trip. It was beautifully kept then. Don't know about now. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Annerupert@aol.com> To: <CALOSANG-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, April 05, 2002 8:15 AM Subject: [CALosAngeles] Hollywood Cemetery is where? > Hello, > > Just received the death certificate of an ancestor and burial place 1941 was > listed as Crematory - Hollywood Cemetery - Funeral Director B E Dayton Inc in > Beverly Hills Ca. > > Addresses of deceased was 1722 N Benedict Canyon Dr. > > My question is: Where would this Hollywood Cemetery be? 3. I can add to my list to look up the death certificate. I do not do obits. The differences in the dates can happen. Usually the social security dates are ones that the person or a representative provided via a birth certificate for birth date. The death date should have matched. The birthdate on the death certificate is provided by someone who knew that date to be his date of birth and not necessarily had seen a birth certificate. Still think the death date should have matched, tho. Anyone out there know why the death dates would be different? Did you notice that the SSDI had a "(v)" after the death date? DONALD A GREENE 09 Aug 1921 23 Dec 1996 (V) 90013 (Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA) (none specified) 001-14-6866 New Hampshire SS-5 Letter (V)=(Verified) Report verified with a family member or someone acting on behalf of a family member. It also looks like the person who provided the information for the one on the CADI, did not know much. The place of birth is NA, which is for unknown per Vitalseach. I believe he was b. 08/09/1926 and d. 10/23/1996 this is as per the SSDI and CADI. If anyone knows of him or his family would be interested in hearing from you. Or if someone who lives in Los Angeles County could look up an obit, would be wonderful. Also, where can I call to order the death certificate or call to ask for an obit lookup. I am new to looking things up. Thanks, > > Charlene > Lucas.dog@verizon.net > > > >
