    1. [CALosAngeles] my appologies on asking
    2. i posted quite a while ago. and saw a repost and stated Levi Street would be transcribed a few weeks ago. i know with the holidays people get behind. wich is totally ok with me. my e-mail got full and i know many e-mails bounced. i have been looking to see if it was posted but unable to find it. if it wasn't then that is great means i didn't loose it. sorry to be a bother i just didn't want to loose that transcription. best wishes and thank you too all who volunteer your time to help others like myself. your time you spend isn't unappreciated. best wishes sincerly david

    1. [CALosAngeles] Obituary look-up please/JEFFS
    2. Yardsley Macpherson
    3. If it's not too out of the way for anyone, could someone please do an obituary look-up for me? After four letters to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, I finally received an answer today from Margarita F. saying that she only has six months in her drawer. I had specifically requested information as to how I could order an obituary for my late uncle, Samuel Jeffs who lived in Alhambra and died there on December 22, 1951. He was buried in the San Gabriel Cemetery on December 26, I believe. I have also written to the West Covina Library, as Miss F. suggested they may have the newspaper on microfilm. I have not had a response to that query yet. If anyone can help, I would be extremely grateful. I have been trying for nearly one year to get this obituary and am no futher ahead than when I first learned when and where he died and was buried from his death certificate I ordered and received. Thank you, Yardsley JEFFS Macpherson ( New York)

    2. GARY RADCLIFFE
    3. Fascinating, Karla. All those old familiar names. I've got to get some film and drive to Calvary. Did you know it took all day from early morning to take a body from Pomona (the Palomares family among others) to Los Angeles for burial? I think the same was true of those buried in the recently vandalized Yorba Cemetery in Yorba Linda. And those hills to the Yorba Cemetery! Wonder how many horses it took to climb that road. Thanks for the information, Gary Radcliffe West Covina, CA

    3. Did not even notice you called the paper Torrance Breeze, Actually it is the Daily Breeze. Important when you try to contact them. There was a Torrance Hearld before 195?, The Torrance Library copies of the Daily Breeze start in 1966 to 1996 or maybe the present. Carson Library has them 1922 forward. I don't think they have volunteers to do look ups tho. There was a paper called the Redondo Breeze from 1909-1922 at the Carson Library Deborah Story Rootsweb Los Angeles Mailing List Volunteer ----- Original Message ----- From: <MBNancy@aol.com> To: <CALOSANG-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, July 07, 2002 2:37 PM Subject: Re: [CALosAngeles] Torrance Breeze > In a message dated 7/7/2002 10:15:27 AM Pacific Daylight Time, > jonella59@hotmail.com writes: > > > > My question is whether the Torrance Breeze covers Redondo Beach? > > The Daily Breeze office is located in Torrance, but it covers all the beach > cities, including Redondo Beach. > > Nancy > > >

    1. [CALosAngeles] Thank you lady Felix for DCT:
    2. Thank you Lady Felix for your generosity in looking up all the death certificates. Today I received from you 2 death certificate transcriptions (ROSE and LYSIGHT). With the 2 DCT's copies in hand , I now know where my family members are buried, and as a bonus, a trail to where spouse and other family members are interred. This was the key element in securing this information and that is why it is so important to thank you. Researching in Los Angeles County I have found to be filled with many barriers. No obituaries offered at the local libraries and they clearly convey in letter how they do not do research and suggest hiring a private person to secure data. (Ok, I accept that) In another attempt, a letter written to the "Hollywood Cemetery" requesting a plot map is outstanding as of several months. (Still hoping for an answer) So to conclude, the generosity of one person, who looks up this information must certainly be praised for their act of kindness. Anne

    3. Although I lived in southern California for almost ten years, I have a question regarding a newspaper. I am very aware that the LA Times would not have obits for common people. My question is whether the Torrance Breeze covers Redondo Beach? If so, what library would be the best choice for finding microfilmed copies of the paper from the 1970s? Thanks, Joni Vella Cudahy, Wisconsin
