Or, if some one has access to the directories, would you do a look-up for me on the following people: Stevens, Andrew J (Jack) & wife Thelma J. 3. I don't see these online, but microfilmed copies of the Library of Congress collection of city directories for the years around 1930 (1929-1931, e.g.) are at the National Archives for use with the 1930 census. I assume these are available at all the regional branches of NARA best bet if you happen to be near one (there's one in Ft. Worth, I think). If not, ask at the nearest LDS (Mormon) Family History Center. They usually have or can get most microfilmed records. I will try to check your names next time I am at NARA, but it may be while (week or two). Have you seen the pacbell.net site of a Professor SPMORSE et al? It's great for finding EDs once you have the address. Do a search on "enumeration districts" to find it. You can also link to a map site from it, for possible cross streets, etc. Paul R Dafft wrote:Can anyone tell me if the Los Angeles city directories for the period 1925-1930 are on line and if so can you point me to the appropriate web site??? 1. Re: [CALosAngeles] Obituary lookups request
    2. DeborahStory
    3. In Los Angeles County there are numerous newspapers for obits. I don't know of many people that do volunteer look ups for obits, but you might also try RAOGK.com It would be very helpful if you knew where they lived and where they died. This would narrow down as to which paper or papers someone would look in. Los Angeles County has many cities, almost all of which has their own local paper. The LA Times does carry obits, but mostly not for us "common folks". Don't want anyone to get upset by my last comment. I just did not see that many obits for non-famous people when I use to do them. I stopped only because in the six months of doing it I did not find one. 3. I was using the Vitalsearch marriage database for California 1960-69 for brides. Same oh, same oh. Sometime during the day I actually looked at the screen and saw they add a new line: 1960-1985 Marriages-Bride(only) Indexed(MySQL database): All Searchers may enter here. http://www.vitalsearch-ca.com/gen/ca/_vitals/cam_960to85m-nopsm.htm Well, let me tell you much faster and covers a larger time span, so it is quicker too. It states all searchers, so I don't think you need be a member. It is only Brides, tho.
