Sometimes it just confuses people to have the 19 and the 70 code. All the DCT's are kept in one place anyway, the LA Registrar Recorder in Norwalk. Looking at the list of those codes again and you are correct. Where there are county and city names that are the same (Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and Alameda), there are two different codes. “19” is Los Angeles County; “70” is the City of Los Angeles. What she wants is not the death index, she wants someone to transcribe it without buying it. I order DCT's all the time from LA County. They are $14 but are going up to $16 on Jan 1. Hi. According to the paperwork it needs to be mailed in the U.S. http://www.cdph.ca.gov/pubsforms/forms/CtrldForms/VS112.pdf Instead, you can order the certificate through VitalCheck: http://www.vitalchek.com/death-certificates/california/california-vital-statistics When you get to the page where you put in your address, click "International". Hope this helps. I typed in Ancestry.com and my name came up okay. I am not a paying member but am connected to another family tree that keeps me up dated and allows me to research with in that tree to certain points. I haven't actually tried signing onto root web site but just using my e-mail reply button. In a message dated 10/28/2012 9:53:27 A.M.
