At that time, Orange County had not been formed. So Los Angeles County is correct. Liz Myers
Anaheim, and all of what is now Orange County, were still part of Los Angeles County in 1875. OC didn't secede from from LA county until 1889. Your source is correct. Does anyone have access to city directories for Glendale, or for cemetery records there? Roger
Hello all... I have just joined this list from sunny Canada.... :-) I am looking for the marriage records / info for the following couple. Hopefully I am on the right list? Robert Michel Spouse: Henrietta Battenberg Date: 28 Aug 1875 Residence: Anaheim (for both) Age: 34 Henrietta's age is listed as 36 Born: Germany (for both) County and State: Los Angeles Co. Ca If this info is available, would it list Robert and Henrietta's parents? Thanks for reading....any help at all is much appreciated. Tom
Anaheim is in Orange County NOW, and for the past hundred and some odd years, but Orange County's Centennial was celebrated after we moved here in 1982. In 1875, it would have been Los Angeles County - so the record is probably in the big ledgers in Norwalk. --- Mark Lomax <[email protected]> wrote: > Anaheim is in Orange County. I am interested in knowing the contents and cost for copying a "Register of Actions" and the "Final Degree of Distribution" of a will. Apparently I also need to know the Case Number of the will. How would I find that out? I have already given them the name of the deceased, the date when he died, and where he died. I have no idea when the will would have been probated. I live in Canada and need to know the exact cost so I can send a money order in American money. I have already sent them a letter which they received July 2007 and I just got a reply back from them recently asking for this additional information. I had given them my email address and asked them to let me know by email how much I needed to send, but they just sent me back a letter asking for a money order or certified cheque as well as letting them know the case number and when action would have been taken on the will. Any information on this matter would be much appreciated. Sincerely, Camille Magoffin
To: Listers, I am wonding if these missions worked together for baptism records collection below. I would like to know if my great grandmother JoAnna Silva was baptized at Roman Catholic Mission San Fernando Rey de Expana on the same year of 1870. Two of her sisters were baptized there also. I am looking for baptism records in between 1866 through 1876 for Roman Catholic Mission San Fernando Rey Espana. Items 18-19 Extracts of church records, 1797-1855 Catholic Church. Don't forget that many records have been filmed by the LDS Church and can be ordered and read in your local Family History Library - Los Angeles records are actually quite extensive.... http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp ----- Original Message ----- From: Mark Lomax To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, February 03, 2008 3:47 PM Subject: Re: [CALOSANG] Deaths pre 1940? California did not start keeping vital records at the state level until 1905. Many of the larger counties, however, began requiring vital records well before 1905. Los Angeles County, for example, has vital records dating as far back as the 1860s. For vital records prior to 1905, you will have to contact the recorder's office in the county where the event took place. There are no statewide vital records indexes before 1905.
