    2. Roger Bartlett
    3. I've put up a web site that focuses on Frances Callaway (1792-1840), Jesse Bartlett (1791-1838) (her husband), and their descendants. There are no fancy graphics to slow things down, but there are several photographs or other illustrations. I have omitted the more recent generations in an effort to avoid posting information about living persons. I haven't published pages on their ancestors but will do so in a few days. Here's the URL: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~bartlett/jessehomepage.htm And happy San Jacinto Day to you all! Roger Bartlett Austin, Texas [email protected]

    3. Looking for descendants of: James Nelson Calloway b Feb 7, 1860 place unknown, died 26 Aug 1929 Sacramento, Cal. He was a farmer in San Joaquin Co, near Lodi. His wife was Mary Ann Hunting, b 1877 San Joaquin Co, married on March 17, 1897 in Stockton - her death date and place unknown. James is buried in Sacramento in his mother-in-laws tomb, moved from another location, possibly from old Liberty when the freeway was built. Children were Blanche Irene b 1903 (m a Hirsch, first name unknown), Dorothy b 1914, possibly died in Las Vegas in 1995 (m a Bowman, first name unknown), Clarence and Getrude (m a Pattee, first name unknown.) Mary Ann Hunting Calloway was my great grandmother's sister and its as tho this family has disappeared from view - we understand that Dorothy Bowman kept marvelous genealogical records on both families and we would love to contact someone who knows this family. I personally found some of her notes in the Jackson Co Iowa (where the Huntings had lived) Genelaogical Library a couple of yrs ago which showed she had done a great deal of in depth work. Thanks in advance. Faye

    1. Family Tree
    2. SHERRILL U WILLIAMS
    3. To Richard M. - Richard, the old (1930's/40's) Callaway Family Tree is full of errors. Right at the beginning, Thomas Callaway of Cornwall, England (not proved) "dyed in this country with no heirs" and therefore his land in Charles City Co, VA reverted to the Crown. The chart mixes together the two distinct major colonial branches of the Callaway family. They are not related on this side of the pond. I hope "the Chart" is not available on the web as a computer file! The Callaway Family Association is working on building a new chart, using Family Tree Maker. This is a membership volunteer project, so it will take awhile. We are using the Pedigree and Family Group Charts submitted by our members over the last 25 years. After entering all of the data, then the file will have to be checked for discrepancies and errors. If you have updates, additions and corrections, we would be glad to hear from you. The CFA website is at <http://www.metronet.com/~cfa/callaway.htm> Visit and learn about our association. Sherrill U. Williams, Genealogist, CFA, Inc.

From Rosalia-Battle Field to Wheat Field 1858-1988 by Edith E. Erickson. The Joseph Bourne family came west from Missouri by covered wagon over the Oregon Trail in 1863. They lived at Walla Walla, near where the present State Prison now stands. This is where Benjamin Franklin and Lee Joseph were born. They then moved to the Willamette Valley in Oregon until 1878 when they returned to Walla Walla, Washington Territory. In 1879 they came north to the Palouse Country. Joseph homsteaded and planted a timber culture just south of Rosalia, WA (south of the old Milwaukee RR trestle). He did farming and carpentry work. Built some of the earliest frame homes in Rosalia. He practiced homeopathic medicine and was often called to minister to the sick and injured. With the help of our grandmother he also delivered several babies before Rosalia had a registered physician. Some time after the death of grandmother Bourn in 1885, Joseph married Huldah Lee, who was born 16 Mar 1830 and died in Rosalia on 5 Nov 1899. She is burried in the old Riggs Cemetery east of Rosalia. She and Joseph had been separated as the marriage didn't work out. Samuel Riggs donated a piece of land on his homestead and established what is now called the old Riggs Cemetery. This is where Joseph Stults and Catherine Louisa Bourn are resting. We have pictures of this cemetery. More About JOSEPH STULTS BOURN: Burial: Riggs Cemetary, Rosaila, WA vi. MCKENZIE JOHN CALLAWAY, b. May 09, 1829, ,Sussex, Del; d. 3. To Mitzi in Idaho - You are speaking of Col Richard Callaway of Boonesborogh, Kentucky. But, your legend is flawed. Col. Richard Callaway had a daughter, Frances, but she married (1) John Holder; (2) John McGuire. Several of Richard Callaway's daughters were captured by Indians at Boonesboro, but this is not the reason Richard Callaway had a gripe with Daniel Boone. That problem derived from the Seige of Boonesboro, during which Callaway accused Boone of collusion with the Indians. The story is told in Volume V (1980), "The Callaway Journal," annual publication of The Callaway Family Association, Inc. Sherrill
