Hello listers: I just spoke to one of my older aunts and she said there is a family plot in the cemetery on thraxton road in Pulaski. It's either Pinehurst or Dyer. Apparently, my great grandparent, and grandparents use to live across the street from this cemetery. In this cemetery, there is General Lawrence, the 1908 one, Thomas Calloway/Callaway my gg grandfather died about 1937, Charles Calloway d. 1937, Robert Calloway (listed on the previous email), and a slue of other Calloways/Callaways. Also there were Bufords also plotted in the same cemetery. Does any one have any information on this cemetery or know of someone who inventoried it? Is it listed in the phone book so I can called and possible get info on the people I am looking for. Angela

There is a virus going around. the attachment is called AnnaKor (the tennis player). The attachment attaches itself to your email and sends itself to all the contacts in your address book. If you got from me, sorry. I was unaware of what was happening. Also the virus deletes all traces of itself from the sent folder of your email program. Angela

Posted on: CALLAWAY Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/c/a/CALLAWAY/queries/32 Surname: Calaway, Quick ------------------------- I've been searching for a long time on this. Francis Quick married Nancy Calway on March 7, 1838, in Edgar County, IL. I believe Nancy's mother was Elizabeth (maiden name not known). My great-grandfather, James W. Quick, had written the name Elizabeth Callaway born in VA,(1786-1871) below the names of all his children in his Bible. I'm told that his parents died early in life and his grandmother raised him. He was born in 1839 in Edgar Co., IL, the son of Francis and Nancy. I don't know the name of Nancy's father, or the names of either of Francis' parents, but, of course, that's the people I'm looking for. James Quick married in Polk Co., Missouri, to Mary Hurt in 1858. Mary died in 1886, and in 1888, he married Celia Ann Cowen and they lived in Fayetteville, AR. I haven't been able to find any Callaways with a James Quick in the family in Missouri. If anyone knows anything connected to this, I would certainly appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.

Roger, you will find the Councils in Ashe Co., NC. I think some were somewhat prominent; they do show up in records there. Do you have the CFA Journals in which were published early Ashe Co, NC court minutes. Some of the Councils may appear in those records - on jury lists, etc. Sherrill -----Original Message----- From: Roger Bartlett <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Friday, January 05, 2001 8:56 PM Subject: [Callaway] Councill family - Shadrack Callaway? >I am trying to track down some members of the Councill family from the >early 19th Century. I am trying to track down some members of the Councill family from the early 19th Century. Shadrack Callaway (c1788-c1842) was married to Mary (Polly) Council, so perhaps the connection lies with his in-laws. Here's what I know: My g-g-g-grandparents were Jesse Bartlett and Frances Callaway. He was born in Knox County, Tenn. in 1791, and she was born in Buncombe County, N.C. in 1792. They married in 1810 and in about 1825 moved to Illinois. In 1831 they moved to Texas, where he died in 1838 and she died in 1840. After a few years of marriage they bought a family bible. It was published in 1817, and we still have it in the family. It has 60-70 entries for births, marriages, and deaths, and we know who each of them is with the exception of these three people, who are listed together under births: Nancy B. Councill was born November 10th 1802 Jordan T. [?] Councill was born January 10th 1804 Alfred C. Wallis [?] was born October the 4 1805 From some research I've done in Frances Callaway Bartlett's ancestry I've found that Shadrack, one of Frances Callaway's brothers, was married to Mary (Polly) Council, but I have not found any information about Jordan or Nancy. These three people are about the only ones listed in the bible that we can't place as to residence, and I don't know if they also were in Texas or were back in, say, Tennessee. I wonder if they are cousins of Frances to whom she was particularly close. No other cousin or sibling of Frances is in the bible. I am very curious who these people were and how they might connect to Frances Callaway or Jesse Bartlett. I will welcome any thoughts, even unfounded speculation. Thanks for your help.
