    1. Re: CALLAWAY-D Digest V03 #4
    2. In reference to the William Callaway (1804-1879), son of John Callaway, grandson of Col. Richard Callaway, does anyone know where he settled? I'm looking to tie in my great-great grandfather, also William Callaway, to other members of the Callaway family. It looks like he was born in Virginia, and ended up living in Jackson, TN, marrying a lady named Elizabeth that was also born in Virginia. My William was from around the same period, also, and had a son named William J. who later moved with his family late to Atlanta in the late 1880's. Could this possibly be the same William, or another William of that family?

    3. Hmmm, Thomas Callaway m Mary Baker is my line via their son Joseph Callaway m to Polly Barrett, who went from SC to MO, their daughter Cena Callaway m2nd to William Coats of Callaway County MO, Cena was born in SC... I have all these children under one wife for Thomas Callaway, I don't show a second marriage for him... This line also carries a Revolutionary Soldier, Thomas Callaway m Mary Baker, but I'm having a terrible time documenting the early connections for this group!! Could you tell me more about this second marriage...my Joseph would be the brother of your James according to my files...I might add this information was from the Callaway Family Association... Or did I read this wrong...Jane was James' second wife?? 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/xNH.2ACEB/242.248 Message Board Post: I never look on these boards, so, sorry for the late answer! I hope this helps: William Callaway 1804-1879 was one of the 10 children of John Callaway (1775-1825) and Martha Robertson Booker (1778-1831). John is one of the 3 children of the 2nd marriage to Elizabeth Jones Hoy of the notorious Col. Richard Callaway (1717-1780), son of Joseph Callaway Jr. (1680-1732) and Catherine. John Callaway, though quite a bit younger (20yrs) is the 1st cousin of Flanders Callaway, the man who helped rescue and then married Jemima Boone, Daniel Boone's daughter. The charts get confusing, especially when Col. Richard's second marriage gets left out. He had 12 children with his 1st wife Frances Walton, who died after giving birth to #12. Interestingly, William's brother, Richard, married Ann R. Crawford, possibly a relation to your Crawford. I am the 7-greats granddaughter of Joseph Callaway Jr: Jos Jr--Col Rich--John--Richard--Samuel H.--James R.--Lael R.--Mary C.--Richard C.--Mary M. I am working off my short forms right now, I do have more detailed info, not much on William himself, but on siblings and ancestors.
