    1. parents of George, Silas, Robert, David Callaway Mobile, AL 1850
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Callaway, Sydnor, Ford Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/xNH.2ACEB/517 Message Board Post: George Callaway (b.1814 GA), David Callaway (b. abt. 1822 AL) and Silas Mercer Callaway (b. 1830 AL) were allegedly brothers. The three came to California, it is said to mine for gold, around 1850 and settled in areas along the Sacramento River. I have been unable to trace their parentage and would appreciate any help. They are not listed in the Callaway family association index. They are not listed in any ancestry.com family trees. George Callaway is listed in the 1840 census in Mobile, AL. In 1850, George (with wife and children), Silas and a Robert Callaway (b. 1828 GA) are listed together in the census in Mobile, AL. I believe Robert may have been Robert Byrd Callaway, son of Clement II and Anna E. Spruell, who married Cynthia Edmonson. He stayed behind in Alabama. I cannot locate David anywhere in the US and believe he may have been en route to CA (family lore says via the isthmus). In 1860 Silas and George (with his daughters) are settled in Sacramento County, CA. David has settled, with wife Nancy (Mary?), in Sonoma county, CA. Silas Mercer Callaway married Electa Ford (daughter of Jos. L. and Ruth Ford), had eight children, and died in Courtland, Ca in 1900. One son was named William Byrd Callaway. The middle name Byrd has been used through four generations. George had four daughters: Sabrina Clara, Jeanne(?), Mary F., and Addie with his wife Erebecca(?). He died before 1880. David had no children but lived with his neice Sabrina in Stanislaus county after her husband, Robert Sydnor died in 1878. David died in 1900. If any Callaway researchers can help me discover the parents of George, Silas, and/or David Callaway I would be most grateful. Barbara Meacham Callaway

It took time to receive death certificates and wills. So if you have any immediate connections to my line, please email. I have info. on his 3 marriages---his children and wives. Just looking for the correct other Levin and Elizabeth that is his parents. Some people are wrongly documenting about Levin and Elizabeth Nichols. Levin did not die young. He lived to the age of 94. His house still stands today. People shouldnt post false information online unless they have documents to prove it. Post wrong infomation online can mess up others hard work. I also asked a cert! ain Association several years ago to help me with my line. They told me that my line wasn't the one from Delaware. And they never did bother to help me. They also state: That all of those Callaways are well documented already, and my line was not part of those Callaways. Guess what.... I am searching for information on Philip Powell Hodges (Oct 7, 1899 Tattnall CO, GA - June 3, 1961 Liberty or Chatham Co, GA...depending on which death index is looked at(GA or SSDI)....and Janie (Eliza Jane) Callaway (Aug 17, 1903, Tattnall, GA-Oct 11, 1974 in Liberty Co, GA) Philip's parents were Thomas and Maggie Parris Hodges. Janie's were James M. and Elvada(Vada) Sapp Callaway... I looked at Ancestry.com and there isn't much....and I also looked at familysearch.org and also not much....so I am hoping someone can help me in my research....I have found them in the 1930 census..but it seems he may have been married before....he has children that are close in age to Janie who was 26 in the 1930 census....his three children were: Myrtle, Fronita and Cohen. He had children with Janie: Eldred who was 6 and Powell P (Philip Powell Jr) who was 5. If there is more info out there, appreciate the help.... Thank you in advance.... Stephanie Grohol

    1. CALLAWAY - SEYMOUR (update)
    2. Hi list, I sent out a query the other day regarding the following: << Is anyone doing research on Chas. E. SEYMOUR of Talbot Co., MD? I'm very interested in how he is related to my Elizabeth DRAPER of Caroline Co., MD. Denton Journal: Saturday, 13 May 1916 Mrs. Elizabeth DRAPER, of Goldsboro is visiting her nephew, Mr. Chas. E. SEYMOUR, in Easton. >> I have since found info posted -- Charles E. SEYMOUR, was b. 1869, in MD & his parents were George H. SEYMOUR, b. Nov 1827 in Talbot Co., & Irene (Arena) CALLAWAY, b. Jan 1832-44 (Sussex Co.?), DE. They m. in 1859 but I don't know where! Could anyone do a lookup for their marriage for me please? I have searched Talbot Co. marriage records but found nothing. The info posted, went on to mentioned Irene (Callaway) SEYMOUR, d. 13 Aug 1913 & was buried in 15 Aug 1913 in Easton Cemetery. When someone refers to Easton Cemetery do they mean Springhill Cemetery? Irene's parent's were Samuel CALLAWAY & Elizabeth THOMPSON. Irene maybe my Elizabeth (Callaway) HITCH DRAPER's sister, b. 7 Aug 1832-35. I did find a Samuel CALLOWAY, living in (Laural?), Sussex Co., DE in the 1840 Census: Samuel CALLOWAY 3 males 15-20 1 male 50-60 1 female under 5 1 female 5 to 10 2 females 10-15 (Irene & Elizabeth?) 1 female 40-50 1 female 80-90 Can anyone help me, by verifying any of the above info? My main interest is in the CALLA(O)WAY - THOMPSON Lines!!! Thank you for any help or info! :) Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)
