RootsWeb.com Mailing Lists

    3. I am shocked about this. We've been sharing information and helping one another on this list for over 20 years. If you don't believe that, see https://lists.rootsweb.com/hyperkitty/list/calhoun.rootsweb.com/1999/6/. Thank you subscribers and contributors over the years. Here is the text of the announcement to all of us listowners: Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After > that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on > RootsWeb. > As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a > great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message > boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. > Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this > community. > Sincerely, > The RootsWeb team Our Message Boards are quite useful: https://www.ancestry.com/boards/surnames.calhoun/mb.ashx with 2434 messages and boards for Calhoon, and Cahoon and perhaps other variant spellings. I urge you to use them, and all the boards, especially because you can upload photos and other images to the boards, which are not available here on the list. Usually posting to the Locality board is most useful, by the way. We do have the option to create a list elsewhere, and I'm willing to do that, if subscribers want that. Groups.io and Google Groups seem the most likely options. Example of a Groups.io mail list: https://groups.io/g/newzealand/ | Google Groups: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/1720cowanimmigrant *If you are interested, please respond*. If not, that's fine too. I'll miss you here, no matter what the future holds. Valorie -- http://about.me/valoriez - pronouns: she/her

    3. Valorie Yahoo recently did the same thing to their groups causing a lot of grief. I'm fine with Groups.io or Google groups.  Thank you for not suggesting Facebook.  There are many of us that don't, and will never, use Facebook. It's also impossible to find message threads on Facebook as I've now heard repeatedly from people on groups that migrated from Yahoo to Facebook.
