In South Carolina there were 2 that I know of , also some in GA and North Carolina.Would love to help I have a John C Calhoun in my Genealogy but you will need the state where John was Born ; Is this John C Calhoun the former Vice President of the United States if so his ancestory (place lived and family home) was Charleston, S.C. there are numerous genealogist researching this family.

Olivia Williamson Saffold Descendants of John Caldwell CALHOUN Generation No. 1 1. JOHN CALDWELL5 CALHOUN (PATRICK4, JAMES3, PATRICK2, JAMES1) was born March 18, 1782, and died March 31, 1850. He married FLORIDE CALHOUN January 08, 1811, daughter of JOHN CALHOUN and FLORIDE BONNEAU. She was born Abt. 1785. Children of JOHN CALHOUN and FLORIDE CALHOUN are: i. ANNA MARIA6 CALHOUN, m. THOMAS G. CLEMSON. Notes for THOMAS G. CLEMSON: A Georgia Brass historical marker on Hwy 60 South of Dahlonega, which is a reminder of Benjamin Parks' historical gold discovery which states: (typed as stated on marker) Calhoun Gold Mine Famous Calhoun gold mine where it is said vein gold was first discovered in Georgia by white men. In 1828, while deer hunting, Benjamin Parks of Dahlonega accidently found quartz gold in pockets or lodes. His find was so rich in gold that it was yellow like the yolks of eggs. Shortly after discovery, this mine was sold to U.S. Senator John C. Calhoun of South Carolina. It was operated by Thomas C. Clemson, son in law of Calhoun, and some of the gold was used to found Clemson College, S.C. Specimens from this mine are exhibited at the State Capitol in Atlanta, Ga. ii.
