My Calhouns (and Calhoons) are from Pennsylvania, though I am not sure if we have a connection. I actually have a lot more information on siblings, etc. in a family genealogy book; the problem is that I have lent that book to a Calhoun friend (coincidentally enough). I hope to get it back soon. Here is my information which I posted to the COLQUHOUN list some time ago. I have two separate sets of COLQUHOUNs in my lineage, one spelled CALHOUN and one spelled CALHOON. My lineage goes: Michael David LIBENSON b. 17 July 1968 in Pittsburgh, PA (me) Barbara Taylor LIBENSON b. 27 April 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA (mother) Robert Stevenson TAYLOR b. 10 October 1914 in Pittsburgh, PA (grandfather) Mary Elise Calhoon TAYLOR b. 30 April 1876 in Georgetown, Beaver County, PA (great-grandmother) Thomas Stevenson CALHOON b. 15 August 1834 in Green Township, Beaver County, PA (great-great-grandfather) Harriet Amanda Calhoun CALHOON b. 5 February 1834 in Burgettstown, Washington County, PA (great-great-grandmother) Before that the line splits into two sets of COLQUHOUNs. Here is the information I have Harriet Amanda's father and grandfather (and grandmother): Charles CALHOUN b. 26 March 1802 in York, PA Andrew CALHOUN b. approx 1760?? married to Anna Maria FORD b. 1770 in York, PA * Andrew was a private in the Revolutionary and Indian Wars; Anna Maria, known as Mary, was the daughter of Peter FORD, also of York, PA At the moment, I don't have more information on Thomas Stevenson CALHOON's lineage. I do know that he was a reasonably well known riverboat Captain in western Pennsylvania, that he was orphaned at a young age, and was raised by his uncle, Richard CALHOON. Thanks a lot. We are just about to give up, but the Calhoun Motto is "If I can" so here is one more try. James Calhoun and his wife Nancy were m. in PA. Their first child Frances F. Calhoun was b. in PA (she m. Robert Lester) and the rest of the family was b. in Daviess Co., IN. I am a descendant of Robert C. B. Calhoun who was b. in Sept. 1822 in Daviess Co., IN and Eliza Goodman, they married, had children and lived in Vigo Co., IN. We read in the Orval Calhoun Vol. III, that he was the son of John Calhoun and Ann Finton and this family was from Allegheny Co., PA. Is there anyone out there working on this family. WE have more information that we would love to exchange. Zabette (Calhoun) Elam ============================== Free Web space. ANY amount. ANY subject.
